What's crazy to me is charity is already a huge scam. He could have just paid himself 30% of the money as operating expenses and it would have been completely above board and typical of the industry. He also could have made a foundation and invested the money to pay himself the operating expenses perpetually. Had to get greedy though.

Yep. The other wild thing is that the golf tourney is probably a similar grift; given the father was both the organizer of the golf charity AND the head of the open hand foundation, the son's level of involvement beyond being the face and the beneficiary of the embezzlement is questionable. The whole crime smacks of a 'family business' in the worst possible sense.

Not just the golf tournament. His dad's entire business is super suspicious as well. I'm honestly not sure what exactly it is they are supposedly in business for.

Given the roach-like scuttling and the concern over reputation rather than the money being donated, I'm quite pleased with the exposure the case is getting.

Sunlight is, indeed, the best disinfectant.

Based on what I've just seen, it appears this guy was hoping to coast by and never actually donate, and hopefully not get caught not doing the things he said he would do.

The first step in stealing something is moving it a bit to see if anyone notices.

Wack it with a sword until it's in a backroom, so you can pick it up without them noticing.

He honestly sounded more worried on the call for his image and his career than he did about the money not being used properly.

Yeah, he seems like a real winner this one.

On the one hand I'm sure I've missed some memorable stuff with his content, I guess anyway, I haven't paid much attention to youtube stuff outside of one or two people's channels.

But knowing he was doing all that, living it up with stars and special guests, and really making people think it was for something special.

That'd sting if I watched all that and gave money, too. But his section of youtube never really came up in the feed. I had heard of the completionist, but I had no idea who that was.

And for the record, I pretty much only watch Aqualung Game Reviews anymore. There was just something special about his early stuff, and how it felt like he was just helping you get through a game, like an interactive Nintendo Power guide or something like that.

Maybe give "You Can Beat Video Games" a try. He makes fun content showing how to beat some of the old hard as nails games from back in the day. Might be to your interest.

Here are two words that I never thought would coexist in a sentence: Mesopotamian Weaboo.
