"You know, just for public relations sake, maybe I should have gone and found one Black and one woman artist to include here that didn't measure up to that same historical standard, just to avert this kind of criticism," Wenner said. "Which, I get it. I had a chance to do that. Maybe I'm old-fashioned and I don't give a [expletive] or whatever."
If you have 1 black guy 1 white guy and 1 aisan guy.. these fucks will complain about being sexist. If you have 1 black girl, 1 white girl, 1 asian guy.. theyll complain about no trannies.
Wenner said that Black and female artists couldn't "articulate" at the same "level" as the white male musicians in his book.
Note only two words in that sentence are actually quotes. Everything else is malicious bullshit drawn from a deliberately retarded misreading of something like "These specific guys articulate rock on another level than any other musicians"
I don't know why I just though of this, but does anyone like or used to like the band Less than Jake? Somehow, white kids rocking out reminds me of a song of theirs called "Gainesville Rock City". I actually don't know which Gainesville it's about. Probably Florida, but I don't know where they're from.
It's a shit opinion but not a racist one. John Lennon maybe at a certain point. Bono, blah. I've always thought the Rolling Stones were overrated, but I don't necessarily hate them. I'd take Chuck Berry and Jimi Hendrix over Bono and Jagger easy.
Blacks shot their own selves in the foot with their insistence on nothing but nigger degeneracy music anyway. Their talent in the 40s-70s will live on a long time, but no one is going to care about whatever modern garbage that is some clown droning about his hos.
I've never met a single person who likes him, or U2 even, yet he is supposed to be this mega ultra superstar hit with infinite adoring fans. Like, we get fluff pieces forever about how important he is but there is nothing else. More people angry about his album being forced downloaded onto their Itunes than people who would even casually listen to it because its there.
This might be generational. Through the ‘80s and into the early ‘90s, they were the Biggest Thing Going* in rock music, and they had a huge army of rabid fans, and Bono was preaching about whatever dumb shit pet causes he had, so he was influential.
Then grunge came, no one gave a shit about anything new that U2 put out because their style instantly became dated, the band kind of coasted on the momentum of their old songs and the fans they had already accumulated, but now enough time has passed that they’re beyond irrelevant, and like you said, people have to be forced to download their albums.
*To be fair, I don’t know why they were the Biggest Thing Going, because even then they were mediocre at best and extremely pompous. If I had to guess, they sucked a lot of dick for their music industry overlords.
Yeah, you had to be there. The earliest thing I remember hearing when it came out from them was Joshua Tree, but then in order to stay relevant, they basically reinvented themselves as 'the biggest rock stars in the world' with Achtung Baby and Zooropa, Bono being Biggest Rock Star of Them All.
Achtung Baby was actually the first album I remember being released on CD in a Digipak case. Fuck those things, they were garbage.
That said, U2 were actually smart in that they figured out early that mp3 and streaming would eventually take over and worked it into their contracts in the mid 90s which is pretty forward thinking.
I guess you could call it pop. It all sounds like hip hop to me, now. Which is in fact popular with black people. That's not made up. I mean I know black people that listen to country music, and I kinda know one that plays the trumpet in a jazz band, but that's an anecdote.
Blacks did largely abandon those styles of music which but it still was cool to see old school blues artists like Muddy Waters playing with The Rolling Stones or John Lee Hooker and Clapton together.
Robert Plant and Jimmy Page are better than those 3
Incredibly based.

Endless for these motherless fucks.

TF is a Bono
Lennon X Jagger = this.
Bono can burn in hell.

The man has his opinion.
I still don't understand Bono's existence.

U2 was good radio music. Actually I think it's not bad.
But I mean they were popularized by the record industry at the height of its power.
Jokes on them, because I pretty much only see white people blasting that shit in their cars everyday. The few blacks I know listen to pop music, lol
