I think he should be more concerned about the murder that happened on his grounds of one of his students.

I'm willing to bet the majority of students at this 'school' are more familiar with murder than math.

I bet they still have time to learn about 98 genders

The inaugural class of third graders at the LeBron James-supported I Promise School in Akron will soon start eighth grade, and, for each of the last three school years, none of those students have scored “proficient” in Ohio’s math proficiency test.

The school is 60% Black and 28% of the 554 students have disabilities.

Apparently the retarded basketball player should have allowed Thomas Sowell to run his libtarded education

Sowell wouldn't have been able to fix the problem, which is IQ. You're never going to get more than the tiny portion of high IQ blacks to proficiency. If they want to help these kids they need to teach them how to do a skilled job that pays well and doesn't require abstract thinking. They would also have to take back control of the border so the wages for those jobs stays reasonable.

Sowell has repeatedly acknowledged the problem, which is how how kids are treated in a school environment and also outside the environment (I.e. parental influence) and has found that despite iq that children develop faster in non public school environments. Take that as you will.

Oh that stuff is definitely a factor. IQ is a ceiling, but the shitty public schools definitely keep them from reaching that ceiling.

Iq is a definite of capacity, not capability

Spez: forgot to add I agree with you on that

IQ is the reason they're not astrophysicists. Culture is the reason they can't add two numbers together. There are plenty of low IQ people who function perfectly well in society to the best of their ability.

Correct. They need jobs that they're capable of, and the culture that teaches them that an honest day's work is beneath them needs to change.

I don't think LeBron is involved in any of this tbh. He donated money so that his name is on the building but I'm sure your typical education bureaucrats are running the place.

Though I don't understand what's so surprising about this. The school only takes kids who are already two grade levels behind. No shit they're going to fail standardized tests.

Having worked in education I know exactly the kind of madhouse that place has to be given the demographics too. Every day probably feels like a losing battle for anyone trying to teach there.

The entire concept was that they could succeed where the racist schools failed, as it turns out, you can’t propagate a broken culture and succeed even after 3 years and millions of dollars.

Yeah, throwing millions of dollars at 85 IQ kids doesn't turn them into geniuses. I'm sure some administrators are collecting six figure salaries though.

That's not gonna stop the same grift from springing up again in a few years.

The problem is the same 85 iq kids have been seeing unprecedented success in charter schools. This whole situation is essentially what Sowell has been writing about the past few years .

And they'll twist and turn to avoid the answer, of course.

While that is true, that doesn’t set the precedent that lower iq individuals can’t be successful when applied to a stricter curriculum. Think of at as the principal where people rise to their level of incompetence. A low iq person wouldn’t normally fit, unless there is a job that provides wealth for hour expenditures over intellectual capacity. So the reality is that someone of a lower iq can still succeed in life as long as they maximize what attributes they do have in regards to the demand set by society.

Again you’re making the presumption of a few things. 1 that averages are the same as all, 2. That you can’t have successful low- mid iq people under capitalism, and that 3. You assume spending is the equivalent of results
