Disney and Marvel should’ve been slam dunks. They started off right with Marvel but they seem to have an open hostility against the pre Disney comic books and then you buy the properties to appeal to boys and turn them into girl properties. Star Wars should’ve been easy. Just don’t crap on the OT characters and you can still build up your new ones. Also, don’t piss off the EU fans who were loyal when there was nothing coming out with Star Wars
Marvel got off to a good start because they were a different production company.
All of the Phase One movies were green-lit and the projects were well underway.
Later Disney put their staff in to replace Marvel Studios staff as they finished projects.
We can see how that turned out.
When I rewatch the Phase One movies I always have to remember that because they do feel very different in tone and story then the later movies.
This happens quite a bit actually not even just with movies but in the games industry as well. Bioware being the biggest example off the top of my head.
That makes perfect sense then.
almost
This is it. This is all there is. They don't like pre-Disney comic books because they appeal to boys.
I mean, look at the shit Disney and Pixar produce over the last few years. It's so girl-centric it isn't even funny anymore.
They fucking bought Marvel and Star Wars to broaden their appeal to boys and now they have less appeal to boys than ever before.
I can hear Valliant laughing in the corner. He called this like a week ago because he does financial shit for a day job, so he was reading the tea leaves long before it became obvious.
The interesting one that could come out of this is Nelson Peltz may come back for Round 2. He has apparently been using the downturn in Disney stocks to buy up more shares, and one of his conditions of backing down last year was that Disney set about a solid effort to replace Iger. With Iger effectively sitting on his chair and saying "I! AM! Disney!" this breaks Peltz ceasefire, and he will likely come back swinging for a hostile takeover.
Of course. He's going scorched earth on DeSantis so the rest of the pedophiles are rallying around him.
I really doubt that. If Iger is that petty, he would try to build up Cali instead of destroy Disney as a whole. Besides, Universal Orlando has picked up a lot since Disney World is hellbent on pricing out everyone.
And this is the pre-Epic Universe Universal Orlando. The Epic Universe will launch in 2025 which is a year before Iger's contract is up. Disney's park attendance is already faltering with Disney World having its worst July 4th in 10 years.
I would be a little careful. Universal may not be as bad, but they have their problems.
Bob Iger has a very good relationship with Apple, so he might be trying to work on a Disney buyout from Apple.
Let it all burn.
Thank you Bob iger, please continue destroying Disney from the inside you are the perfect cancer for the job. Thanks to your efforts, Disney has been harmed in ways so outsider could ever perform.
I'm actually ecstatic that he's staying for this exact reason. The Disney people used to love is gone. Same with Star Wars. Disney is shitty to the point that there are only two solutions for it to be good again: clean house and bring in new, non-woke leadership or let it burn to the ground and rebuild.
There was absolutely no way that the former solution would happen. Iger is too prideful. He was responsible for the acquisitions and he will never ever admit that he oversaw the severe depreciation of Marvel, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc. He's still drunk under the hero complex after Disney scapegoated Chapek.
Hes bad but Kennedy is worse
I'm surprised they didn't install Phoebe Waller-Bridge and complete her trajectory of failing upwards.
I'm not.
She went from fringe comedian with a spot on late night British TV, to a main character in Indiana Jones who (supposedly) nearly got to replace Indy.
There's not very far for her to fail upwards.
even more evidence that "go woke, go broke" is an obvious fallacy.
anyone spreading this idea is sabotaging the RW by suggesting that the problem of woke corporations is inevitably going to fix itself.
