I was informed a few days ago by u/AcidOverlord that KIA 1 removed their links to the original 8chan GamerGate thread.
I feel that it is necessary to help preserve our heritage as we approach the... JFC, 10 year anniversary of GamerGate. While the lies about everyone are still out there, we still do have the evidence of what happened on that crazy month of August in 2014.
So, I've linked those threads to our sidebar.

It seems like the end has finally come for the KiA/8chan GG relationship, at least with KiA1. They have quietly removed the crosslinks from the sub that pointed to the 8chan.moe/v/ board where the GG threads are still going, and the link to the great thread repository on 8chan.moe/gamergatehq/. The first link disappeared a few months ago and I asked Hat if there was a reason, and he said he didn't know and went silent.
Yesterday I noticed that the main link was gone as well, and started a topic to ask the community and mods if something had happened. They immediately removed the thread and said that it "belonged in modmail", but I have already asked them about it via modmail and received only silence as a response.
Its my speculation, but I've noticed a bit of a narrative over the past year or so building in their community where 8chan's half of the contributions that made GG a thing are being downplayed and dismissed. Like parts of the community and especially the mods want to divorce themselves from that bit of history and pretend that GG was solely a Reddit and Twitter affair. If I'm right, then this would seem like an expected eventual conclusion to that arc.
What do you guys say? If you link us, we'll change the thread links and links on the GG board from reddit/KiA to here in gratitude.

I would have never found GG if not for 4chan itself, as reddit is for fags and twitter for lesbians and corpos. Not even the obvious part when /v/ started getting censored, but when the censorship managed to reach /b/ where fucking everything gets through. And as a regular /b/tard, this caught many people's attention and ended up with me finding good ol' KIA.
To ignore that chan history is to really try and scrub yourself clean out of a pathetic sense of superiority. Like the SCP site trying to clear itself of any /x/ connection despite them being responsible for basically the only parts of the website anyone likes.
GG was all over the place IIRC. Definitely it was an issue on 8chan, and 4chan, and Reddit, and Twitter; and basically all of the Gaming Journos websites. Threads on Tech Raptor, Giant Bomb, GameSpot, etc. Including different websites initiating purges of anyone bringing up the topic at all.

Escapist had a massive gamergate thread too, and gamergate sympathies one way or the other had some knock on effects for that site. Probably led to Jim Spermwhale parting ways and later trooning out.
Let me guess, they are so mainstream they are afraid to be associated with a "chan" site. I was never autistic enough to want to pick through a site that felt like it should have a mandatory "Designed for Netscape" logo at the bottom despite not being from that era. Still, it's stupid how they've become such a taboo from what I can tell only because the big tech leftist powerhouses can't censor them.
I mean, this is a group of people who were so afraid of being seen as "right wing" there was a brief attempt to ban literally anyone who posted on T_D and parroted "we are a LEFT WING MOVEMENT" every chance possible, way back in like 2016.
KIA1 has always been a bunch of ninnies afraid of their own people, who seemed far more interested in being controlled opposition and maintaining their little fiefdom than anything resembling logic.

What a bunch of fags, it was inevitable with the cancerous mods but things had gone on without them touching the links that I assumed they just forgot about it since the subreddits were practically irrelevant at this point.
This makes them massive hypocrites if they continue to use all the GG-related branding that comes from the old 4chan/8chan days, such as Vivian James, and the Green and Purple color scheme while eschewing the very roots those came from. I remember that KiA1's relationship was always amicable with all other GG hubs (this was before the mod drama so I dunno how things might have changed afterwards), what a shame.
Hmm... I wonder how much effect that one recent gay podcast about how "GG totally failed" had with changing their mods about this sort of thing.
Regardless, here's hoping the community learns what happened and fucks off, but I have no idea how many people there are even aware of this.
Also, to any newfags who want to go on 8chan, remember the old imageboard adage of "lurk moar", respect the culture you want to be a part of and assimilate, and don't be a pearl-clutching faggot. There's a history thread on /site/ for you to learn a bit about it.
Could you link to the Gamergate wiki as well? There is a lot of information on it and a lot of information missing from it, and no one is using it so it's like people don't know that it exists. And I think it's run by the same people as 8chan.

I can't remember quite what but it had something to do with the mods being gormless bound bundles of sticks not understanding that they were subservient custodians but thinking they were actually important at a base level.

We responded in the thread the reason why those links were removed was because they were 404ing, and they were removed when all the 404ing links got cleaned up.
It isn't anything more than it was pointed out that half the links in the sidebar were dead, so we cleaned up the ones we could with archive versions and the ones that couldn't got removed.
If anything you could call us lazy for not finding the new links since 8chan uses a different domain as to what was originally linked.

Thank you Dom. Any chance of adding clickable links instead of just text? I'm unfamiliar with the .win software, but <href> tags might be all it needs. I'd suggest the same for the #GG wiki. 8moe's traditional GG resource links will be pointed here as well.
Also as a reminder to everyone, you don't need any kind of account to post on 8chan.moe. Just leave the namefield blank and hit post, with or without an upload. The easiest way to find the GG threads is to click "Catalog" on the /v/ boiard and then sort by reply count. Its often the biggest thread on the site even 9 years later.
Edit: And don't forget to check out /gamergatehq/. Posting is disabled since its an archive, but it is a MASSIVE repository of old digs and happenings from 2014-2018.

Generally we try not to take down anything except for legal reasons. If you want top-down enforced moral purity based on the whims of the owner, then you should stay off of imageboards.
