When the Producer is expecting complaints you know they are throwing money at this project just to destroy the IP. They are ALREADY setting up responses to criticism, which implies they anticipate and hope for it.
Also, if they wanted to make Leia the Star why not just do a show about her growing up and getting into politics? There is a legend book called Kenobi which is kind of a sci-fi western where he is watching Luke from afar and gets caught up in a fight between farmers and Tusken raiders. Has a main female character who runs the supply store for the farmers as well.
I could respect them if they just made their own original super woke show. It would inevitably bomb of course and we would be attacked for not watching it but at least it wouldn’t crap on the work of better writers. I hear that Rings of Power originally had good people working on it but the lady in charge at Amazon ruined it. If they had any sense they would beg Tom Shippe (not sure how to spell his name) to come back.
The one good thing about the Witcher prequel was that it shows you exactly the kind of show they wanted to make for Witcher and what an original fantasy would look like

That's how lazy writers are these days, directly lifting game plots for other media just with Picard Season 1 using the plot to Mass Effect 1.
