Can someone explain why this ridiculous social contagion exists?

cutting is a giant marker of extreme mental illness, usually borderline personality disorder.

the Left in recent years has worked hard to cultivate the mentally ill into a new identity group & intersectional tribe they can leverage to destroy straight white males. You have seen this manifest in a fetishization and worship of mental illness under the guise of "acceptance" which looks more like celebration.

since cutting is an open and outward sign of extreme mental illness, it's practically a "I'm fucking crazy" tattoo, it isn't surprising that the Left would seek to celebrate it and promote it.

Then 'borderline personality disorder' either does not occur outside the West, or it is not inevitably accompanied by this. I have never heard of such a thing in the Middle East.

Like the Joker.

A tattoo is an "I'm fucking crazy" tattoo. It's just that this one is free.

BPD is part of the human condition and exists everywhere. It might not manifest cutting specifically as often in other cultures, but it would manifest self-harm very often in some fashion.

The middle east is a black box in many ways. I wouldn't expect women with cutting scars to be visible in middle eastern cultures when even showing a woman's ankle is haram.

You'd have never "heard of this" a few decades ago in the US, either, because it wasn't talked about. Mental illness is disturbing and makes people uncomfortable, so the natural reaction is to cover it up and keep it hidden. While there is a legitimate argument to be made that excessive suppression leads to people not getting help, the Left has gone to the opposite extreme to the point of celebrating it and causing people to LARP it.

There's a wide range of oddly imprecise and questionable "disorders" that have been suggested over the last hundred years or so, mainly derived from Western cultures. BPD is a semi-older one if I remember right.

Which woman is more likely to be open to a one night stand - a tattoo or a cutter?

Cutter.

Impulsive and risky behavior, such as [...] unsafe sex, is a symptom of borderline.

sex with BPDs is russian roulette. you're just as likely to get a false rape allegation as you are to get pussy.

That's not really your lane, is it, Mr. "Omar"?

I don't know, nor would I recommend investigating.

It's the sort of thing you don't hear much about unless you've worked a job in teaching or childcare. Basically it's teenagers, usually girls, who cut themselves to feel alive after some sort of trauma, or because they see their other friends do it and join it. The progenitor in most cutting groups was most likely molested or came from another group of cutters when they moved schools. The standard places for cutting are between the fingers and toes so it's easier to hide from teachers and parents. Sometimes high up on the thighs for the same reason. I encountered a cutting group at a job about a decade ago. The normally method for dealing with it is to hand the cutters off to a more experienced/trained adult and break the friend group up. Isolate the first cutter and get her some help. This is not the first time I've seen it almost being encouraged in media, but this is the most mainstream example I can think of. If you ever encounter a teenager who casually mentions "self-harm" to you, get away from them and let someone in authority over said teenager know immediately to protect yourself. You do not want to tangle with that Tar Baby by yourself.

Girls aren't able to regulate their overwhelming emotions well, so they get bogged down and are told things like "pressure valve release" and such are an escape. So they cut, get that pain euphoria (helped by their unacknowledged masochism) and then are conditioned into a vicious cycle.

Its the same with all their other "conditions" like anoxeria/bulimia or bleaching their hair to baldness. A bunch of girls told them it "makes them feel better" and then they turned to it in a bad moment once, only to then get addicted.

Why do anorexia and bulimia exist? Or 19th century hysteria?
