The MTA is one of the most hilariously shitty and most corrupt transport agencies across the country.

My favorite story about their ineptitude is when people complained about planned construction jobs being so far in the future the MTA guaranteed all of their planned construction jobs across the city would begin...without thinking of the consequences.

So instead of working on a few at a time and finishing them quickly they began HUNDREDS of construction jobs around the city, all with plans to finish in 3-4 years instead of 3-4 months.

It was by far the most absurd decision I have ever seen a major city department make. It completely shut down any progress everywhere and caused tons of injuries because so few workers were at each job.

Nobody got fired. They begged for federal money, reverted it back to the old system and gave themselves bonuses with the federal funds.

You're missing the best part. How they always claim to need raise fares and act ass backwards from any other company. "We are experiencing a record number of users. We need to raise fares to accommodate all these new people." Shouldn't all those new riders be giving profits? Then when less people ride "we need to raise fares because less people are riding." Well won't you be losing more revenue then as more and more people stop using you?

Reminds of the Trump story with the Wollman and Lasker ice rinks.

Assembly have floated potentially hitting streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and HBO Max with the state’s sales tax as one way to fund the cash-strapped Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The plan would hit streamers with the 4% surcharge, potentially netting $100 million annually for the state’s coffers, the Assembly’s budget proposal predicts, putting a new + on bills for everything from AppleTV+ to Paramount+.

NY is now reaching BBC license fees without even producing content

Or even pretending that the money will be recycled back to the arts community.

Even Trudeau lies that all his online censorship bills targeted at Big Tech are somehow going to fund Canadian content.

Can someone explain why this is bad?

Cities with a functioning metro are far more pleasant than ones without. If city improvements are funded at the expense of bugmen, I'm all for it.

you are a eurofag so you don't understand how it works in the US

The US cities are run by democrats and full of blacks.

Blacks target Whites for crime victimization. The more reliant the population is on "public transit", the more Whites are forced to interact with seasoning-americans thus the more likely they are to be victimized.

Democrats always use a portion of any funds they have control over to rig elections. The less money they have the better, regardless of other circumstances.

Is it really feasible to travel around New York by car though?

There is no "good" that is worth giving democrats more money. Even if there is a temporary and trivial quality of life increase, it will have been ancillary to their primary objective of graft and favor-peddling.

And in the long run if they keep getting what they want the country will collapse anyway under the weight of their kakistocracy.

Sales tax is paid by us.

MTA has some crazy benefits. I can’t recall all of them off the top of my head, but I believe most retire by 50 (US average is closer to 62-65)

So streaming services are taxed while young blacks just DONT PAY their fares at all on the subway

Sounds like America

Why shouldn't streaming services be taxed?

Netflix is garbage. Subways are not.

Are you not understanding who pays the tax?

The companies don’t. We do.

Netflix subscribers do. Yeah, they should be taxed.

Yes - more money to government so they can fund niggers and illegals

That’s always - great idea!

nyc subway being depicted as this dirty, gangbanger filled trains isn't too far off from reality.
