World Athletics has banned transgender women from competing in elite female competitions if they have gone through male puberty (archive.is)

"Having gone through male puberty" is not provable and is not a standard. They tried to sound reasonable by embedding the real reason for having segregated sports into the rule, but they actually just weakened their own position by creating a rule with too much leeway.

Ban men. Easy. You think it is hard because you are accepting a political premise and conceding ground. You've already lost all future battles as a result because you've betrayed weakness to an enemy whose "cupidity does not sleep."

Women's sports have always existed with fragility, walking perpetually with the specter of having many roads to self-demise open and easily started upon. Lesser product receives lesser attention and withers, parasites itself onto a more successful enterprise (men's league profit sharing), leans into leftism because it's already functionally welfare and wealth-redistribution so the fit is natural, and then leftism destroys it by prying open an anus through which all standards are equalized (which is to say abolished).

Choosing to die on the hill of equality when the basic premise of the endeavor was inequality to start, is acceptably poetic. Carry on.

There is the Tanner Scale for measurement of puberty.

But I do agree with you since it relies on subjective measurements, relies on individuals remaining pre-op and could be affected by conflicting exogenous sex hormones.

Of course the ESPN title is “ Track organizers ban transgender women from elite competitions”

Can’t even make it to the first sentence without it being a lie…

Why not just end the separation of sexes in sporting events? Let men and women participate in the same competitions. It would save money and nobody would feel obligated to be bored watching women play sports.

Because women demanded segregation under title 9, despite the civil rights act being about desegregation. It’s why “positive racism” is still allowed.

Hmm. I wonder if they were worried they might not be able to compete with men on an even playing field?

I've always thought there should be a 3rd "Open" Category that has no rules - especially no drug testing. Let technology and whatever decide how far we can push ourselves.

the IAAF clarified that the regulations would only apply to those with the 46,XY karyotype.

Hey bigots, gender is a social construct. Unless ... we need to protect the sacred pussy. In that case, gender is based on genetics.

The influence of male development on a human starts in-utero, not at puberty.

Looks at prepubescent and post pubescent hormone levels in males….

I’m an old track athlete so I’m very happy to see this. I’d rather they just outright ban trans athletes from competing in their “new” gender’s events but this will all but achieve that goal, at least for a while. Elite boys can outperform Olympian women in the equivalent events, and you can’t even make the Division III men’s national meet unless you are dropping marks that would make a woman a gold medal threat, or in many cases, an all-time world record holder. There’s no way in any sport for trans women to fairly compete, but interested parties can fool some people when it comes to team sports because of the more abstract nature of the game. With track, there’s only one thing being measured and you don’t have to wonder if the guy who ran a 3:50 mile could beat the Olympic woman who can run a 4:20 mile, because the answer is right there in front of you on the clock.

Nobody cares what the bottom 50% of the population can do.

And that's fine with me. Don't bother me while I'm enjoying my hobbies.
