Pet culls happened in 1939 as well and it turned out to be unnecessary. Many who went through with it unsurprisingly expressed regret.

From a few other places I've seen this discussed a lot of the comments have been "I'd kill anyone who killed my cat" without appearing to read the whole thing where the policy would have required the cat owners to be the ones culling their pets. While I am not the biggest fan of cats the sheer gall of the UK gov considering making the owners carry out the policy is unreal. As odd as it would seem given other liberties that have been stomped on this would have likely resulted in riots.

Muslims love cats. I would love to see them try and make the "new Britons" kill Mohammad's favorite animal.

They could have tried that shit here, and killed my cat over my God damn dead body, and theirs.

Rampant retardation and cruelty for no reason, especially to the animals. Whoever supported that should be drowned.

Fucking Afghanistan probably has less fascism than England. Probably more freedom of speech, too.

There’s a reason people have spent hundreds of years climbing into boats, crossing oceans and braving hostile new lands filled with murderous savages just to get the fuck away from England.

You aren't wrong but we're all headed down the same path, only at different speeds.

The brits are a genetic dead end. Centuries of sending ther best and brightest outside their borders and then picking fights with them has left the british lacking in genetic and cultural traits that give rise to the will to liberty. Everyone left is a descendant of those glad to live under british rule.

We will never reach that point.

England's chief medical officer, Sir Chris Whitty, had reportedly been ambivalent about the need for [a facemask policy]. Following its introduction in Scotland, Mr Johnson posted in a WhatsApp group asking whether UK government would need to change its stance.

Downing Street's director of communications, Lee Cain, warned that "nervous parents would freak out" if Scotland's example was not followed, while Sir Chris said there were no strong reasons for or against the policy, and that the issue was "not worth an argument".

A change in the government's policy was announced that night.

Absolutely pathetic. When can the English vote for independence from Scotland?

That October, Sir Gavin announced that A-level exams would be delayed by several weeks, a shorter period than some teaching unions had called for.

"Cracking announcement today," wrote Mr Hancock to Sir Gavin. "What a bunch of absolute arses the teaching unions are."

Sir Gavin replied: "I know they really really do just hate work."

He isn't wrong about that.
