I hate this phrase, because THEY use it all the time in promoting shitty entertainment that blatantly insults what could have been a substantial audience.
The reasoning is valid for them because they view their consumption of media through the lens of political activism. If it pisses off a conservative, that’s good enough for a leftist.
It is valid reasoning for me because I know they only attack one type of media: problematic content that possesses enough merit to threaten penetration into the mainstream. That is precisely the content I’m looking for.
