I still don't even understand the idea behind remaking a game that's both easily accessible still, holds up entirely, and is incredibly beloved. Remaster I vaguely get in theory, but remaking?
There is no multiplayer to revive. It isn't locked onto rare and dying consoles. It isn't held back by archaic elements (some of its elements are still held up as still years ahead of modern games). There is absolutely no worth to this game existing.
And that's before you even begin to factor in the changes, woker elements, and all this jazz. It failed on a conceptual level.
EA has nothing left at this point. Everything they own, they've run into the ground. They lost the FIFA license. Nobody gives a shit about Battlefield.
All that can keep them afloat is nostalgia-bait remakes/sequels and The Sims. I can see them being devoured by MS, Sony or some Chinese firm within the decade.
Perfect scenario but requires a purged Sony (I don't know they force all leftists to commit seppuku by telling them they actually have to work and get no benefits)
Sony buys out EA for the IP, we get stuff like a Battlefield set in the Killzone universe, Mass Effect made by people that worked on Gundam so they KNOW how to do political drama and a bunch of other IPs used properly
It's a pipe dream but a man can enjoy his fantasies.
The Japanese have effectively been purged from Playstation, and the results will be catastrophic for the company. There is no value whatsoever in Playstation owning the IPs.
A true classic like team fortress, but everything about it is so old and even at the time the network code was so janky it'd need a rewrite not just bigger assets.

As I said, if they purged Sony and took it back as Japanese, they only have Japanese figureheads no actual Japanese management.
So it's why I said it's a pipe dream..
yep. its funny since back then, the main reason to get a playstation was the exclusive/rare japanese games.
They already misuse the IPs they already hold. See every other title included in PS All Stars.
They should remake UT 2004.
