That's because Republicans are in on it too, and they hate Trump probably more than the Democrats. Democrats can always reclaim power via fortification and undo a lot of what the Bad Orange Man can manage to do during a short bit of power.
But Trump pushing changes and populism into the Republican party is much harder to undo...although they're trying. Republican establishment hoped betraying their constituents and tanking the midterms would be enough. But it won't.
