Attractive female students no longer earned higher grades when classes moved online during COVID-19
New psychology findings suggest that attractive students earn higher grades in school, but for female students, this beauty premium disappears when classes are taught remotely. The findings were published in the journal Economic Letters. ...

Yet more evidence that attractive young women had life on easymode, even in circumstances where it shouldn't be happening. "Oh, women just get better grades because they're obedient little teacher's pets!" Yeah, no. Now we know it's because the teachers want to fuck them and were simping.

100% agree, and the only reason this does not happen is that the professors and TAs WANT to have the power to play favorites and discriminate. I know, because it happened to be all the time in undergrad. The only reason anonymous grading is the norm in law school is that it is so competitive, but all higher education should be held to the same standard. It's not like it's difficult, you literally just replace people's names with their student number.
Anonymous grading isn't entirely anonymous. This is especially true in fields like law where you have written responses. You can actually tell who wrote what based on their participation in class and what they choose to write about to answer a question. There's lots of markers like this. Sometimes it's blatent too. If a teacher wanted to help a pretty girl he would simply tell her to write some sort of code on her exam.
I once entered an incredibly prestigious finance competition where the winners got pretty much guaranteed investment banking jobs at top firms. I actually came down to the final 20 but then lost. Grading was "anonymous" It came out during the compeittion though that friends of those grading everything where given a code to indicate on their final report so the graders knew who their friends were and marked them higher.
I guess any system could potentially be corrupted if there is extreme levels of cheating with collusion from the graders, but it does make it much more difficult and in your example, they got caught.
at my university (not in the US) most pieces of coursework are marked externally, we are never told where its marked to by whom
Yeah, this doesn’t happen anywhere in Aus, lol…
Not sure where you are, but coursework is most definitely marked internally, here…
Somewhat regrettably.
It keeps out opportunistic theives. Not sure if the analogy really fits.
I remember in high school having to do an assignment with a hot girl in my class, she got a slightly better mark than me even though I did all the work
Was the teacher aware of who did the work?
Yeah I complained to him about it, and he called me paranoid.
If that was actually what he called you, then it doesn't even remotely make any sense. Accusing you of lying would be something, but paranoid?
If that's what actually happened, then it's clear that the teacher cared less about being coherent than about giving preferential treatment.
he was a creep, he was always pretty cold towards the male students while being overly polite towards the females (especially the pretty ones). I remember he would sometimes have this same hot girl in my class write notes on the blackboard just to have an excuse to look at her behind.
How does it not make sense, lol?
It’s coherent, it’s just an excuse…
“Lol, you’re just being paranoid. I would NEVER give preferential grades.”
Makes perfect sense to me.
Considering that the confrontation occurred because he knew as a matter of fact that she had received a better grade than him on a team project, no it does not.
As an experiment with a lazy teacher in high school, in different grades we were given the same essay-writing assignment, and I handed in the exact same assignment in Gr11 as a hot girl did in Gr12.
Not only were we not caught out for handing in the exact same essay, but hers, the higher grade student, was marked at 10% higher.
Wait, how was the teacher doing both grades??
So you and this girl just, uhh, got together to do this..? I’m intrigued…
Did you write hers for her, or what?? 😂
Teachers in high schools in our country often teach one subject, so you'll have an "English Teacher", who will teach Grade 9, 10, 11, and 12 English. Lazy ones, like the one in question, will make the curriculum from "very similar" to "practically the same" between two grades, to halve their work load, as long as the overarching rules allow for it.
Dude was a creep, and acted pretty obviously biased in the classes, and students of different grades talk to each-other, at lunches, in sports teams, in clubs, etc. She was on the choir team, which is how I knew her, and talking smack about the prof giving blatantly favorable treatment is how the idea got started.
And yes, I wrote the essay, printed off two copies, and gave one to her. It wasn't some end of year report or high value homework, just another assignment, and I did the essay to make sure that if it came down to it, it would be her copying my homework, because that much, at least, we knew he would go "oh, she's a woman, that's fine to do". But he didn't even notice, just gave her a straight letter grade higher.
Great now Imp is going to be pro lockdowns
Nah, I hated lockdowns. Even if they resulted in a massive increase in feminist suicides, I wouldn't want them back.
Is there any metric that doesn't show women as manipulative people who got way above where their merit deserved and now want to kick the ladder down so nobody can get above them?
If you're not attractive - female in-group bias protects you.
If you are attractive - you wrap the simps who were "educated" by women to be your slaves around your little finger.
So you're saying that the Imp is playing life on easy mode? Of course he is. That's why he has only First World problems.
got 'em
Comely means attractive just FYI. Maybe you were going for homely...
Not to sound like yet another “bitter, angry incel”, but look, I’ve seen this “phenomenon” happen at Uni multiple times…
(Male) Professor wants to get in your panties? You sail through that class…
This doesn’t generally work, as a male, as female lab demonstrators and tutors generally have slightly less power to “give bonuses”, and they’re probably slightly less likely to, uhh, “reward you” in that way, anyway…
I’m yet to encounter a female lecturer who I would really… Consider that with, although if Kylie Moore-Gilbert was my prof (Australian academic who got locked up in Iran, fyi. Who was, coincidentally, in a relationship with one of her grad students for a while), then yeah, I probably would…
Super ethically murky, but hey, we know this grift exists. May as well make use of it, I suppose, if your female classmates are going to do it anyway…
They just need to give the professor a free month on their Only Fans account.
Modern problems require modern solutions.
In a related study, it has been found that water, indeed, makes things wet. But scientists have no idea how or why, because to state the obvious would invalidate a century of "successful" cases.
Funnily enough I have had the opposite back in school but only one teacher was like that. He apparently didn't hold women in high regard, one girl had similar levels of writing to me and we had to do a book report. She got the lower mark while I got the best in class weirdly enough, I didn't argue the point though.
