IMAGINE MY SHOCK
CA Democrats: "You can only use emergency powers relevant to the actual emergency, and not just do whatever you want"
Newsom: I AM THE SENATE!
It's funny. he never ended the emergency.
The California Supreme Court passed a bunch of COVID procedural rules, and originally set them to sunset based on Newsom lifting the emergency: "This rule will remain in effect until 90 days after the Governor declares that the 39 state of emergency related to the COVID-19 pandemic is lifted"
When it started to look like that wasn't going to happen, the Court said "fuck it" and just manually rescinded all of their rule changes. lol.
Are there enough votes to override the veto?
"I love the Republic."
"I love Democracy"
"When this crisis is averted I shall lie down my powers"
Remember Rome? And that one guy that gave up the dictatorship not once, but twice?
Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus. Worth a read on how this man had ultimate power ... and gave it up ... twice.
Just wypipo things.
George Washington could have been king.
What makes you think they anyone wants to override the veto? As long as the governor is Their Team, then the emergency powers are great. It's only once Other Team has emergency powers that it becomes a problem.
They forgot to attach a rider that raises his salary.
What happens in California is Washington and Oregon in 5 years. Things have picked up pace, but it's kind of unnerving watching it happen in real time.
Californians in general had a chance to vote this guy out in a recall and chose not to.
the emergency will continue until there are none left that remember before.
I'd say put it in a ballot proposition but California is ground zero and the test bed for election "fortification" so voting really doesn't work anymore.
There's no one in office that's not working for the DNC. That includes all the Cali RINOs like Keven McCarthy.
