I've migrated away from MAL to AniList: https://anilist.co/home myself.
They list Anime, Manga, Light Novels, and Korean/Chinese Manhua/Manwha (The last isn't allowed on MAL btw). They also list all connected entries on each page, unlike MAL where you need to go back from anime to lightnovel to find the manga entry.
Is it run by people that don't hate us?
They also appear pozzed since I saw them censor a "bad word" once (trap? retard? don't remember) but they still aren't MAL so there's that.

Ah..well. That's a damn shame. Then again, it's very, VERY, hard to find a place that isn't woke. At least they're not overly so. Yet.
Hard to say, but I think they're pretty neutral. Misc and News forums are about Anime and Manga, not politics. They may have a no politics rule. Couldn't find a CoC.
Switched a while ago, actually pretty painless switch and I prefer the way stuff is shown, they show airing series differently, show when a new episode is out etc. Their forum system is not as good but it was never my main thing on MAL anyways.
They've also added Facebook-style "reactions" to reviews and "Recommended"/"Mixed Feelings"/"Not Recommended" badges.
any word on why? it's not like they have any reason to hide things.
I doubt it's to try to hide score manipulation, because rating something doesn't require leaving a review anyways. I'm guessing it might result in people spending more time on the page (which appeals to advertisers), or maybe they're just trying to follow trends from social media sites.
Same reason that site host images in a slideshow that requires you to click for the next image: Artificially boosting engagement.
They hid dislikes a long time ago as well.
