The fact that he feels he has to put "opinion are mine" makes me think that deep down Ben may realize he is an NPC.
They think it's a kind of magic incantation that will protect them from getting fired if someone brings their antics to the attention of their employer.
"Oh, they specifically said they weren't speaking as a representative of the organization," is the nut rattling around in their addled noodle-bowls.
Back when I was an edgy teenager, I was a member of a guild in an MMO. I got yelled at a lot for saying obnoxious shit and making the guild look bad. One day I had the big brain idea to preface all my edgelording with something akin to this disclaimer.
They didn't go for it.
Even online guilds don't want to be associated with immature fuckheads. I don't know why Twitter users think a corporation would.
Almost like the idea of dealing with an obnoxious person puts people off regardless of if they are officially sanctioned.
I think it's an attempt as a useless disclaimer that their Twitter hot takes are them talking as a private citizen and not as a representative of their employer.
Not that it will do anything to save you if you have the wrong opinions and politics in the mob rule cancel culture world of 2022.
Sort of like the useless "watch for falling ice" or "wet floor" signs at commercial buildings. They are trying to insulate themselves from liability, but IRL it just doesn't work that way.
