"It" is the only proper pronoun for transsexuals and hermaphrodites.
I don't even intend this to be an insult; it's just proper traditional English grammar.
Frankly, getting upset about it or thinking it an insult is just as dumb a cultural thing as people being offended by someone using "Sie" instead of "du" when speaking German to their own dog/cat/horse.
It makes a lot more sense to say "it" then "they", if you are not either possessed or with multiple personalities I can't see why you would want to use they. Maybe I'm on to something with the possessed idea.
The motte on this one is the fact that “they” is often used to repair awkward English sentences referring to an ostensibly singular person. As usual, the rainbow reich loves to hone in on edge cases as points of entry for ideological subversion.
