No one's coming to take your guns. We're just banning you from having guns, and also you're banned from going to church, also we burned your church. Kill yourself.
I watched the local Canadian northern news today for the first time in forever while helping out at my grandparents.
The main local stories was a town further north launching a tourism campaign giving jobs and money to LGBT people to make promos to welcome other LGBT to vacation in town and make them feel "safe".
The other main local story was an entrepreneur in another town over convincing the municipality to give her money as a consultant to set up a DIE program to teach "intercultural" BS to immigrants to prepare them for the corporate world.
In the same vein, I have a game where sometimes when I'm in the car I'll turn on NPR for one minute, and see what the first words are. It really is quite often something gay, racial, or immigration focused.
Despite this, people still have difficulty recognizing them for the the lawless opportunists that they are. I think this is because people default to a worldview that assumes the best intentions of others. Coming to terms with the fallen nature of human beings and the potential for evil and malice in others is a frightening thing, especially when we're talking about those in positions of power. Most people would probably prefer to live in blissful ignorance.

It's all so, so tiresome.
