Former President is popular in his party? Amazing insight there.
Look at the talent pool in the wings... Kamala couldn't win a scratch-off lottery ticket, Warren will always be 1/1024 Pocahontas, Bernie is older than Moses.
On the other side, DeSantis seems flawless other than looking like a dumpling. Youngkin making the list looks like a rising star, doing good things in VA.
He said things that would have been almost the assumed bare minimum a Republican would believe, and it was shocking enough to make him quickly become an almost fanatical figurehead before he was ever in a position he had a chance to win.
Which was the point. He isn't really that great, but the Republican party is so bad and everyone is so used to them being meek, spineless hypocrites (where 2016 Ted Cruz was the default) that he seemed godlike.
That a former president could betray his most devoted loyalists so completely and still have any support from the base is the amazing part.
DeSantis hasn't shown the will necessary to do anything of note in DC.
Youngkin converted his platform from anti-CRT, which is a cipher for the normie to reject the ever encroaching societal entropy, to declaring victory over socialism, which is meaningless party rhetoric, and refusing to restrain the progressive march at the local level, even though that is what he was explicitly elected to do.
What does "so completely" even mean? You think he should have called for overthrow of the government or something, good grief.
DeSantis stood up to total media pressure on Covid, restored democracy in Broward Co, and defied Disney.
Youngkin banned teaching anything racist and sexist - not just "CRT" by name - put the whole Loudoun school board up for vote, and veto'd lots of woke crap bills.
... now do the other side. What rising stars in the Democrat party and what have they done recently?
It would have been great for Trump to go full Ceasar and stop the managerial elites from overthrowing him, but simply excercising what little formal power he actually had by pardoning everyone that he called to DC would have sufficed. What is a better term for a leader that runs away from his most devoted people and leaves them to rot in prison for answering his call than complete betrayal?
None of what little DeSantis has done, such as making teachers wait until 4th grade before grooming children, indicates he is capable of doing anymore than Trump in DC, which is to merely occupy the resources of the managerial class so they can't spend all their time raping the people they govern. To actually change DC would require a purge so aggressive it would make Stalin look agreeable. DeSantis needs to stay in Florida where he can rule as a king, instead of doing nothing in the District while leaving Tallahassee exposed to progressive recapture.
Youngkin hasn't actually done anything. Where is the pile of teachers that have been laid off? They will change up their verbiage and continue as they were. Again CRT is just a cipher for the normie to express their displeasure at everything pozzed. These are the opposite of victories. It is placation in order to dissipate any dissident energy.
As for the rising stars in the Democrat party, they have none, but they also don't particularly need any. Elected politicians are mostly a gladatorial spectacle anyways. If they were really competent, they would let Trump win. It would safely dissipate hostile energy and fuel their machine. CNN and the New York Times would see a great resurgence. The great multitudes they need as cannon fodder and who do the hard work of actually maintaining society have lost faith in the institutions of power, and a Trump victory would bring them back into the fold with restored confidence.
Here is a good introductory flow chart of how power works across the western world.
So naïve it's comical. Trump in his final days should have cemented an impeachment and removal, preventing him from running again. Governors are not "kings" lol, they can't fulfil your fantasy because they don't have that power; Youngkin can't fire teachers, he can only do what he did which is set them up to be fired if they continue. Particularly hilarious how you think DeSantis can do more to clean out DC from Florida - tax their winter vacation homes?
Your whole argument is entirely moving goalpost and magical thinking. Oh he only banned any racist or sexist teaching? But why didn't he also fire the teachers?!
The only thing you're correct on is that Democrats have absolutely nothing.
edit: it seems like you just read a NYT article on Youngkin and didn't actually read the executive order; they can't "change the verbiage" because CRT isn't banned, any racism or sexism is banned and more. If they just change the words they'll be fired.
It will be interesting to see what happens if the system decides it's done with Biden. Looks at what happened to that poor Cuomo guy. Perhaps some of the acting senile stuff is to get an easier out.
Maybe media outlets have cancellation pieces ready to go for public individuals, similar to obituaries, or maybe they believe their own hype enough that to do such a thing is unthinkable.
The five percent "Nikki Haley" is what really sells this poll as absurd. Pretty much everyone who knows about her dislikes her. Similarly, there might be one or two low-info people that like Pence, but 8 percent is massively over-budget.
Listen up. Here's how Bernie can still win,
It worked in Idiocracy.
Democrats are retards
Republicans aren't any better with that Trump support.
Says a lot about Republican politicians that the barest minimum he meets puts him miles above the rest of them with the base.

I meant even before he was President.

(1) the retards will still show up. they really believe "blue no matter who"
(2) election fraud will still be used to fix the gaps anyways.

2021 is 1984
He'll win with 92% of the vote
sure smells like MOST POPULAR VOTES IN HISTORY
Eh, Not Sure solved our agricultural crisis so I'd give him another chance. That guy's wicket smaht

N. Sure for president!
The five percent "Nikki Haley" is what really sells this poll as absurd. Pretty much everyone who knows about her dislikes her. Similarly, there might be one or two low-info people that like Pence, but 8 percent is massively over-budget.
Or who the 1% who thought he shouldn't run again but would still be the best choice might be.
Hey they scientifically polled the heart of San Francisco to get these reliable results.
Or perhaps the break room at WaPo. Either or.
