I’ve only got about 5 hours in, but this is probably going to be the best AAA release this year. Note spam everywhere trying to trick people, co-op play, actually challenging combat but frankly so far is very manageable. Graphics are outstanding, and No Micro Transactions. In fact this is the first game I’ve seen in years where the “deluxe” edition is just the art book and soundtrack. This and Ghosts of Sushi Legends mode are the only reason a ps5 has any value so far.

Horrible performance on PC here. Frame drops and stuttering out the wazoo, and I’m greatly exceeding the recommended specs. It’s a shame, too, because the game is great.
This is why I tell people not to fucking preorder.
No wonder it has very mixed reviews on steam.
I’m playing ps5 and have had zero issues
Don’t know how this is possible, unless you’re just not noticing it (or are playing the PS4 version). It stutters all the time, less so indoors. But in the open world, it’s constantly dropping frames, even in performance mode and offline.
The PS4 on PS5 runs decently smooth, at least. Sadly saves don’t transfer
What?
The digital ps4 copy and disc are playable on the ps5. Basically a less intensive version of the game on a higher processing unit.
Got it. Thank you.
I’m using the ps5 version with multiple friends and have had zero issues
How are developers still choking this hard? PC is the platform.
Read the post I made.
I wish it was just frame drops.
Random mook soldier tutorial boss was actually difficult because he spent most of the fight in the shadow realm.
The curse of the Fromsoft PC port strikes again.
I'm waiting for it to go on sale and for them to iron out the performance issues.
I tried playing again and going past the first little area.
It's not just frame drops and stutters.
Enemies will randomly become transparent or fully invisible.
The game is currently completely broken and unplayable for me.
This is with a 12 core i7, 16gb ram, and an Nvidia RTX 2070 with 8gb of ram.
Game just seems to be broken on some machines like mine.
Congrats to those who can play it.
So it’s purely open world like Skyrim? Thanks for the update I was about to post.
Fast travel between camps and everything, there’s also a horse unlocked when you get a maiden
Cool. Now I just need to buy a PS5
That’s definitely the way to play at the moment.
ACG is reporting issues with the patch. Have you noticed any game play issues?
Nope, I’ve been getting raped repeatedly legitimately.
How is the difficulty when compared to Dark Souls?
I haven’t gotten far enough to see if it scales, but having killed a few minor bosses/ open world mini bosses I’d say at least ds3 difficultly but open world format and the ability to sneak change it up a bit.
The new mechanics are also very important for boss fights, especially jumping, jump attacks and charge attacks.
Charge heavies in stealth are so nice for clearing trash mobs quietly
Lower. Notably, magic and ranged combat are much more viable than normal for a From Software game, because both are renewable resources in the field.
I can hardly play it on my setup and it's well above recommended.
Lots of stuttering, lag, and framerate drops down to the single digits even on low.
Right there with you, man. I played it for four hours after work yesterday and I barely scratched the surface, absolutely loving it, iffy PC performance be damned.
I play on PC. What's going on there?
The game is poorly optimized, there’s stuttering issues in the open world, especially when fighting large groups of enemies, as well as framedrops while fighting field bosses. Some people are blaming easy anticheat, but I don’t know the cause really.
On my end I disabled DoF, AA, and motion blur and it works a lot better, I only get microstutter when I load into a new area on the open world, so ymmv, hopefully through patches it will cease to be an issue.
You should watch the video from 'Worthabuy' on his experience with the Elden Ring PC Port.
He refunded it after half an hour, and I don't blame him.
Yeah, I’m not thrilled with it either but it’s my only option right now, I don’t want a PS5 or Series X, especially not just for one game and I’m loving it so much that the performance could be considerably worse and I’d still soldier through it.
It also seems to vary a lot, I’ve talked to people with worse specs than me wh say they haven’t had many issues outside of the odd stutter, and I’ve seen people with better hardware say the game framedrops are so bad it’s unplayable…
Here’s hoping they can sort the issues out quickly, or at least find out what’s ducking everything up; a game that can run on base PS4 and xbone shouldn’t be causing so many problems.
Oh and if you see a chest guarded by rats to the right of the starting zone, don’t open it, unless you enjoy being teleported to a mine and repeatedly raped by centipede skeletons until you run your mangled corpse to the campfire.
I have no technical issues. Game is decent. Calling it a 10/10 is nonsense though. There is nothing new here. I hate the dumbass zoomer comparison to BotW, as if Zelda invented open world, but yeah it's ds3 meets BotW...right down to copied side quests.
The dark souls combat formula is just so absurdly stale at this point. It was interesting when they had to work within their technical limits, but now it just feels clunky. The excuse is concessions surrounding pvp, so if you really dig that aspect it is the best iteration.
Just know coop is unrealiable; prepare to have your friends booted every 10 minutes, fun stuff.
