Didn't Justin Trudeau & Gerald Butts set the standard? They call everyone opposed to them -- including Jewish MPs -- "Nazis". Is it only objectionable when critics of Trudeau say it? P.S. Suspending civil liberties and seizing opponents' bank accounts is actually a Nazi thing.
Every definition of "survive" I have seen, including my own operating definition in this context, includes being alive throughout a dangerous event or circumstance. Having been alive to experience it is a prerequisite.
Evan is a communist propagandist, but he does seem to display internal consistency, unlike most journalists. He doesn't like frivolous Hitler/Nazi comparisons no matter who's making them. Of course, he'll only run to Twitter to cry about it when a Republican does it, but if backed into a corner and forced to confront his biases, he will admit that leftists do it too and it's bad when they do it.
So in terms of morality, he's in the bottom 5% of humans and the top 1% of journalists.

Easy solution, and one that will work indefinitely: I personally survived the Chicago fire. I did not die during it.
That is the very definition of "survive". Not dying through the entire event.
I might not have been born yet, but that ultimately isn't important, compared to not dying.
I also survived the Indian hurricane/earthquake combo two years back, by virtue of not being in India at the time.
