A lot of them on the footage that was being shared around last night looked really uncomfortable being filmed. Thos aggressiveness is probably really defensiveness, due to the fact that, on some level, they know what they're doing is wrong.

IMO, it's likely to be more just general stress. They know they're being scrutinized from all angles all the time and pressured in different directions by both the public, their department heads, and the politicians over said heads. It's easily enough to put the grunts on edge because they've been put into a situation where there is no clear right answer and anything they do could get them some serious blowback.

They know they're in the middle of a minefield and if things go sideways they're more than likely going to be hung out to dry.

There is a clear right answer, it's just not an easy or safe one.

I mean 'no right answer' as in 'no answer that doesn't leave them open to serious reprisal.' They're between a rock and a hard place and are basically living in the embodiment of J. Peterson's warning "you would have been a Nazi."

I think this is going to eventually spiral, it feels like Canadians have found their fighting spirit. How strong that spirit is will certainly be tested very soon.

Man, I hope so. It's been a downward spiral of freedom for decades already and it just takes one first-world nation to have had enough to show everyone else how it's done.

Hopefully Canada turns into a case of Beware the Nice Ones.

"Don't say anything. Stand down. It's peaceful. Let them do it."

This is why modern conservatism is an abject failure and can never be saved.

These guys should be making the police fear for their lives with vague statements about what will happen in the future.

"You know where this is leading, right? Do you think this will keep you safe? Can you protect your family when violence breaks out? Your masters won't have your back; they'll throw you to the wolves same as us. You aren't part of our community anymore. Where do you even belong now? "

This "non-violent protest" shit is stupid and pointless. The blockades and honking work because they're a form of violence. Apologizing and kowtowing nonstop do not work.

Insult the cops. Break their spirit. Remove any sense of kinship and camaraderie. Make them absolutely terrified of the mob so that they're scared every time they go out. That's what must be done when this kind of shit happens.

Do not disregard the lessons of the past.

"We simply didn't love freedom enough."

I really do wish Scholztenizyn wasn't so fucking relevant today.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” ― Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn , The Gulag Archipelago 1918–1956

“Gradually it was disclosed to me that the line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either -- but right through every human heart -- and through all human hearts. This line shifts. Inside us, it oscillates with the years. And even within hearts overwhelmed by evil, one small bridgehead of good is retained. And even in the best of all hearts, there remains ... an unuprooted small corner of evil.

Since then I have come to understand the truth of all the religions of the world: They struggle with the evil inside a human being (inside every human being). It is impossible to expel evil from the world in its entirety, but it is possible to constrict it within each person.” ― Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago 1918–1956

Well said.

Those cops, and all like them, are traitors to their people. They enforce the will of tyrants. They deserve to be treated as such. Peaceful protests only work so long as the people you protest against know that if the peaceful solution doesn't work, violence is an acceptable alternative. Being perpetually peaceful never works long term. All political power is derived from violence, or threat of violence. You can only bluff so far. At some point you actually have to do the deed. We're long past the point where we're within our rights to do so.

The protest is great.

That's pretty pathetic.

You've become so demoralized that you will call a barely passable protest "great."

It's not great.

It's a huge loss of potential that will achieve almost nothing.

And you're happy about that.

From my perspective, it looks like the protesters have been tricked into attacking their fellow citizens instead of the cops and their operators. Have any cops or politicians even been killed?

There has been no violence of any sort at these protests except that which is perpetrated by the police and the one crazy mask-wearing vaccine-fanatic leftist who ran some protesters over in Winnipeg.

People need to find out where these cops live and put post-it notes on their front doors telling them to try and be a better people.

Like literally paper their doors over with cheery encouragements not to be such a goose stepping tools of the state.
