Atlantic Butthurt That “Anti-Racist” Books Are Getting Banned In Texas (archive.md)

The Atlantic isn't against banning books. They just don't like it when progressive trash gets banned. You won't see them bemoaning Amazon banning George Lincoln Rockwell or Kevin MacDonald books, and Amazon has far greater control over the availability of literature than Texas schools.

And when things that they dislike get banned they will celebrate, like when statues get torn down or classic books are removed for the sake of "more diversity"

Banning books is wrong no matter who does it. Pornography, ok i get that, but teach children critical thinking and most of the books on the list will simply inform them of other viewpoints.

We should not embrace censorship here!

That's it, you strike that noble pose while the progs eagerly plan how to rip out your tongue! That'll show them!

Cool, tell me then, who gets to decide what is propaganda?

I'm not fucking advocating submitting to the libtard fags, i just want a society with no libtards and lots of books.

The fact i'm being downvoted here for being against burning books is disappointing, we should be better. Burning books is for mindless sheeps and apparently there are a lot of those here.

This isn't about "who gets to decide". Parents get to have a say in how their children are educated, what materials they consume.

Because children are not the goddamn property of the state.

A school library not carrying certain book= burning books. You’re either adorably retarded or the type of person who actually burns books.

You do understand that public schools are government entities that are and should be beholden to the parents who pay those taxes, yes? The books aren't banned for sale in the state, just will not be supplied by the government to the children.

Oh nooos, thank you for enlightening me about how the public school system is funded. You are probably amongst the first to cry murder when libtards want to ban books

Dumb take. Go actually see what’s in school libraries first and get back to us.

It's dumb to take a principled stand against book bans? I take it you don't read a lot of books..... or any books at all

So you believe that children should be allowed to read erotic novels at school?

It's folly to pretend vulnerable children pick these out of a library and read them to their detriment. They don't, or, at least, the child that reads too many books isn't the one with the problem. The problem is what is foist upon them by public school teachers. Ideally, nothing. Nothing should be taught by the state.

Ideally, nothing. Nothing should be taught by the state.

All outside the state, nothing within the state, nothing for the state.

They can and do. There’s a place for them [the trash], and not in school libraries.
