The thing that saddens me is how at least one of their big news sources, NHK, is pure globalist propoganda. Turned on the TV just the other day and saw some crap on NHK World about the trans community in Pakistan; why does this have a segment on world news again?
I don't know general Japanese sentiment towards propoganda outlets like that, but I hope it is negative.
nah, other asian countries yes, japan no. it's extremely dishonorable to be gay/tranny in japan. shit, japan said officially that they will not honor your gender identity unless and until you go get full surgery. and since surgery results in sterility, a bunch of tranny faggots were screaming to high heavens.
but go to thailand or some other southeast asian countries and fucking trannies are everywhere. you basically get little gay beta boys realizing women get the easy life, so they'd rather "be women" instead of men.
While being gay/trans in the western way is indeed frowned upon in Japan more than in the west, gay people are accepted more and more (without being put on a pedestal).
As for trans, the "Okama", which are basically transvestites have been a popular feature of culture for a long time, with some even being major personalities in the media. However, it's mostly played for comedy rather than "empowerment".
I'm glad to say that I haven't seen much of the American-style TRA/SJW here.
I think you're both partly right. Culturally it's just completely different to the West. Like the other reply said trannies are accepted in the entertainment world, but they're not going to go to work crossdressing at a corporate office unless the boss is weirdly tolerant, and even then nobody else is expected to agree with their delusions. Nobody is going to attack you for saying Matsuko Deluxe is a fat man in drag. I mean, yeah? (the wikipedia article calls him a transvestite, but I've never seen him acting like anything but a woman and fans treat him that way)
Even Thailand is kinda based for ruling against gay/trans marriage recently, despite all the lady boys.
Trannies were normalized there since the Edo period since the 1600s. BEFORE they had contact with the west....They'd rather have trannies than fags apparently.
Japan wants to hire foreigners to appear cosmopolitan, but most of them are diehard leftists that unapologetically want to change the country. I remember reading about one black teacher who wrote about gleefully indoctrinating high school students about the plight of black Americans. It would actually be better for them to hire exclusively weeaboos if they had to, since those people don't pose a societal threat and actually view the country in a favorable light.
japan is nationalist, not racist. they hate everyone who is not japanese.
there is no term for "stupid white person" or "stupid black person". there is only "stupid foreigner" and most of the time, it's not in reference to white or black people... it's in reference to koreans and occasionally chinese people.
if you're a foreigner and you fuck up even slightly, they will not hesitate to throw your ass in jail, let wherever you're staying seize your stuff, and then deport your ass a month or 3 later. it's not like this pussy shit here in the US where you get 5000 chances.
In my experience, they hate Chinese more than Koreans most of the time. Korean culture is a bit closer to the Japanese one, so they are seen as less crass and disrespectful than Chinese. Also Korean idols are really popular which contributes as well. Also worth noting that Chinese people are the majority immigrant by a lot. However, I suppose your mileage may vary depending on who you're talking to.
I can concur that as a foreigner, you'd better not try anything illegal if you intend to stay there though.
And so I checked and of course, it is a lie. The reality in a sample story from half decade ago already:
Balibay is part of a community of some 1,200 Kurds who live in Warabi and Kawaguchi, drab blue-collar suburbs north of Tokyo where cast iron foundries dot the streets and gang-related crime is prevalent. The area has been dubbed “Warabistan” by locals because of the high number of Kurdish immigrants living there, nearly all of whom are asylum seekers. They inhabit a legal twilight zone, locked in lengthy struggles with an immigration system that recognized just 27 people as refugees last year.
Reminds me of the story where Japan accepted 8 rapefugees, and within a week 4 of them were in jail.
And thus, Japan stopped accepting rapefugees and avoided the rapefugee crisis.

Trannies have been normalized (just that, no master race treatments) in JP for much longer than in the USA.

Not in the same way. Sure, they have Okamas and what not but they are treated as joke.

In china we have "white ghost" and "black ghost" lol.
All you need to do to let the Japanese understand you exactly is say this one magical phrase:
watashi wa baka gai jin desu ka
Finally, my anime binges proved useful.
私は馬鹿外人ですか?you mong /s

This story reeks of falsehood and homosexuality.
