Apple's Tim Cook signed $275 billion deal with Chinese officials to placate China (archive.md)

There's a confusion about China. The popular conception is that companies come to China because of low labor cost. I'm not sure what part of China they go to, but the truth is China stopped being the low-labor-cost country many years ago.

Does anyone actually buy this crap?

I think unfortunately there’s a lot of truth to it. It’s because these traitorous globalist countries have invested so much into manufacturing their shit in these Asian countries for the last 40 years that all the refinements and innovation on the factory floor has actually happened THERE and not in the west. Just as an example I’ve personally seen, sometime in the last ten years the cheap guitars you’d get from places like Indonesia and China crossed over to the quality of American-made instruments. I have a $2400 American Professional strat and I hate to admit it but it’s no better (aside from hardware) from a $450 Yamaha Pacifica I also have.

It should be noted China offsets the price by printing money and subsidizing the cost of manufacturing directly and indirectly.

You're talking about quality of product. I'm saying that's he's lying when he claims that labor costs have nothing to do with Apple's decision making process.

After looking here and doing some currency conversion... It doesn't really seem like he's lying all that much.

...Meaning that China is now more attractive than the US because it has bigger and better factories and more skilled workers staffing them - and it reached this point through 40 years of increasing western outsourcing.

Not surprising given China's massive population, and of course, the fact that the US manufacturing sector was gutted 40 years ago. Where were the younger generations supposed to learn their craft? In the factories that closed before they were born? Or in those that stayed running but haven't seen major investment in their equipment since the 70's?

It would take hundreds of billions to restart American manufacturing. China has the most updated facilities, staffed with the most experienced workers, just sitting there ready to go.

I mean, this was the plan from the get go. American politicians sold a lie decades ago and globohomo used it to spread American citizens wealth. We mass imported people incapable of skilled labor and then passed it all to Asia.

Jesus Christ modern globalized capitalism…

Fucking hell, that’s… Even worse of an “argument” than I expected.

And yet, Apple’s fanboys and “fangirls” (it’s mostly women, and men who don’t know better, let’s be honest) will just lap this up, because of course…

Eugh. Fuck this shit. Time for the fucking thing to be broken up and sold off…

Then they have no need to bring in visa migrant workers to the US, all of our tech worker migrants should go to China.

"I'm not sure what part of China they go to"

I know which part of China Tim Cook doesn't go to. The part with the concentration camps.

In 100 years, society is going to look back on America, and other countries, selling out and getting into bed with China as one of our greatest shames.

Are there phones manufactured anywhere else that don't cost 2500 dollars? They may not be "low labor cost" but it's a shitload cheaper than building in Mr Cook's backyard, which he well knows.

In a just world this would be considered high treason and Tim Cook's corpse would be hanging from a lightpost outside a court house or city hall.

Can't hang the gays. But Afghanistan might be looking at receiving some outsourcing for their cottage industry.

Can't wait till China fucks Apple over and they start using those factories to build other stuff besides Apple products.

This is the same with car brands…

Less so the American ones (because reasons), but that goes for every formerly “British” car marque, and indeed a few of the Western European ones. Most of which are just owned by VW and BMW, and manufactured in “cheaper” locations like the former Czechoslovakia (both bits) anyway…

Lololol globalisation… 🙄

Receive all the profits from Imaginary Property, but do none of the work. The locals should simply strive to be better house help.

Aristocrat class.
