This is ridiculous. What happened to the saying “when in rome do as romans do”? Or the idea that if I move to another country it’s my responsibility to assimilate
Oh, and equal protection under the law. That is a western philosophy that has been completely abandoned but we still for some reason expect to be enforced.
This will led to a Great Schism once again, only a pretty radical, fundamental one. I say this because once the generous edifice the West built is eradicated there is only the raw bedrock, which is down to racial, religious, and demographics. Ultimately it will grind down to a last stand.
Because we brought in giant populations of people who have no interest in America aside from what benefits they can leech while they steadily march towards dominance through demographics. They are not here to assimilate, they're here to breed until they are the dominant demographic. If Muslims win this race they will erect a Caliphate and that will be the death knell for America.
Let's hope it starts soon or we will be outnumbered.
Immigrants should not be expected to assimilate into American culture. America was founded as the land of the free and a place where you can be whoever you want. Therefore, if America wants to uphold this ideal that the country was founded on, immigrants should be allowed to decide when and how much they assimilate into American culture, if they decide to at all.
I disagree with the premise. Several groups arrived with sort of "founding cultures" and none of them were "be whoever you want".
The Founders intended the United States to be a white Christian nation. "Melting pot" was a term invented by people that wanted to change that, undermine us, weaken us, and gain power over us. It was the same kind of people that passed the immigration act of 1965, that changed U.S. immigration from majority white countries to majority non-white. They knew that diverse societies have weak bonds and much social strife, and they can manipulate and amplify those differences amongst the disparate tribes against one another while they gain greater control.
The Borg literally vilified the idea of assimilation, because the retards of the world can't see the difference between going to someone's home and forcing them to assimilate to you (colonization), and being asked to assimilate to the host population you voluntarily seek to join (immigration).
"At least [the Borg] tell you about their plans for assimilation", unlike the current crop of people who scream "colonialism BAD, diversity GOOD" at the top of their lungs, but then try to eject anyone who doesn't 100% toe the line on their constantly-shifting ideology.

Assimilation is an American ideal. Like our judicial system, it's a social contract that we are no longer enforcing.

The conclusion reached by an article by Penn State on "Melting Pot" vs "Salad Bowl":
I disagree with the premise. Several groups arrived with sort of "founding cultures" and none of them were "be whoever you want".

No more legions, that's what happened.
Still I like the sentiment.

This was the end goal of “multiculturalism” when there is all give and no take it isn’t assimilation it’s defeat.
Most people would be fine with immigration (not unlimited) if it was enforced that it’s your job to become American.
Not coincidentally the last time that was enforced was when we had race restrictions on entry.
For some bonus points, look up who was responsible for the immigration "reform" of the 60s.
Kennedy right?
that a Christian thing
