Just as the merchants and industrialists of yesteryear used their accrued wealth to buy titles of nobility to guarantee wealth for their lineage. The modern industrialists buy their way into government to guarantee wealth for their lineage. Hence why politicians are often intermarried with business heirs. Today’s political class is the nobility of yesteryear and they’ll be damned if you keep one dollar away from their grubby mitts.
