Unbelievable how much some people make on there.
I had a glimmer of an thought the other day watching a stream, when the streamer mentioned that streams to him feel like he's just playing video games with his friends. Got me wondering to what extent people watching streams is a surrogate activity for what I took for granted as a kid: getting together with friends at someone's house and just play split-screen video games while shooting the shit.
If that's even somewhat accurate it makes the industry all the more depressing.
Lemme tell you, the selection of new local co-op vidya has become small. It's astonishing, considering just how many games are designed for multiplayer.
The expectation now seems to be that you pay the multiplayer rent (gold subscription on consoles), then you get a headset to chat with your long distance gaming buddies while you play. This process typically increases money spent by consumers, as the cost goes up by at least 1 system per player and 1 copy of the game per player.
The reality for children (from my experience with relatives) seems to be that they don't actually play any games, they watch streamers play games. Hard for me to say if they were neglecting real life friends for this, though.
If I understand it correctly, this is purely what these streamers are getting through Twitch directly.
Not included is YouTube revenue, sponsorship earnings, Patreon money, etc.
To give you an example of how much extra streamers are getting through this, know that the low rate for sponsored streams is around a dollar per unique view per hour. For mid tier streamers averaging in the thousands for concurrent views, you can expect that to be 10k an hour.
Streaming is obscenely lucrative even with minimal views because of how the system is set up at present.
I'm just getting a DNS error.

This shouldn't include sponsorships, and might not include what's relevant from special deals signed.
Being a woman is soooo hard, you fucking leftist shitbag.
Throwing cats is hard work
I wonder how much AOC made.
Damn they yanked it
I have no problem with streamers like Critical Role and CohhCarnage being up there. If you're not an abusive, thieving, terrorist-loving commie and you can get rich as an entertainer on Twitch, good for you!
How come Amouranth's setup used to look like a kiddie pool in a shitty bachelor apartment if she made 1.3 million in ads alone since Aug 2019?
Because she wouldn't want people to know she's rich?
God I hate that whore with a passion.
Probably becomes part of your brand and makes you look "relatable" to your much less wealthy audience.
I wouldn't be surprised if she rented a "shitty bachelor apartment" (or at least the spare bedroom of one) solely for the purpose of using it as a studio set for streams.
Jerma deserves even more tbh.
This isn't as near as bad as I thought it would be, with how everyone talks about Twitch. I haven't watched twitch in years, but seeing Pestily making more than Pokimane or Amouranth, it is a whitepill for sure.
Remember that this is ONLY showing money directly through Twitch itself.
Independent donations, Patreon, OnlyFans, sponsorships, etc, are not included.
