People should look a bit deeper into donating organs before checking that little box that goes on their driver's license.

There are awful stories of families who are in very clear distress and completely emotionally crippled being pressured by Hospital Executives to pull the plug on someone that they love dearly because they need their organs for someone else.
I'd always assumed that volunteering for being an organ donor just meant they'd let you die. Sort of like how Ford weighed the costs of fixing the Pinto vs the costs of the lawsuits. More profit in doing multiple transplants, than saving one guy who might not even be able to pay. It shouldn't surprise me anymore that the truth is worse.

These are the sort of things that people practically never hear about. Organ donation certainly can help a lot of people; however, it should be standard to go to every length possible to ensure it's completely painless and not some terrible nightmare scenario where you spend your last moments unable to advocate for yourself as they rip your body apart.
Not to mention the corruption behind the entire operation where many times the organs don't even go to the people you'd want them to but instead go to some rich elite asshole who bribed his way to the top of the list while pressuring hospital executives to find a donor faster by any means necessary.
My mother had surgery a few years ago, and they were a little too willing to give her opioids truth be told. Like they asked her how her pain was, and she said it was pretty bad but not excruciating and they gave her some morphine type drug in her IV. So yeah, they probably have good reason to be wary of proscribing him pain meds if they're not doing it after a surgery like that. I will say the hospital brought this on itself by going along with this guy's delusions, so I don't feel much sympathy for them.
