..."took us all by surprise,” Austin told the Senate Armed Services Committee.

I can't think of one phrase that more perfectly encapsulates the disconnect between the civilian leadership in D.C. and the enlisted grunt on the ground.

Nobody E-6 and below who actually did the training of the Afghan army was surprised in the least.

Its not a disconnect. He is simply lying

FlauntandStraunt 14 points ago +14 / -0

Well of course. The told them to lie about a lot of things

Nobody who read the stories those guys wrote online about gay thursday, constant weed smoking, utter stupidity and corruption of the ANA and ANP surprised anyone.

“The fact that the Afghan army we and our partners trained simply melted away – in many cases without firing a shot – took us all by surprise,” Austin told the Senate Armed Services Committee. “It would be dishonest to claim otherwise.”

I don’t even have words for this

incompetent faggots, all the way down, leading our nation to a path of doom and destruction.

How to say that you are completely ignorant of the facts on the ground without saying that you are completely ignorant of the facts on the ground.

The fact that these people aren't losing their jobs and getting hung out to dry should tell you that this "disconnect" between leadership and reality isn't going to be fixed.

I mean, the fact that General Milley finds the time to smugly respond to 9th grade trolls on Twitter but can't be assed to even communicate with his own army is telling enough.

Or the fact that he finds it responsible to tell the Chinese that he will undercut the president should that president "make the wrong decision" while telling Congress that he always abides by the sitting president's decisions should also tell you that he's untrustworthy and unfit for command.

But here we are. We are stuck with a regime where the only thing greater than it's sheer and utter incompetence is the seething hatred for the people it's supposed to be governing.

Every single vet who returned home for 20 straight years talked about how the Afghan army were a bunch of retards who couldn't go five minutes without nodding off on heroin or selling their gear to the Taliban right outside of camp. How the fuck are you "surprised"?

realerfunction 10 points ago +10 / -0

then you're incompetent and should resign

Literay everyone following the war (which almost no one in America did since 2014, as between the 5 top networks there was just the total of 1 hour of Afghanistan coverage on TV news in over half decade after American grunts stopped dying there, as there was literally 1,000 Afghan forces killed for each 1 American killed during this period) knew what would happen. Afghan forces were not built to work standalone without foreign airstrikes, special forces, and service technicians.

They’re surprised that when they weren’t there to bride and force western values and feminism on people that hates both, that they would just return to their own values? That they wouldn’t defend foreign beliefs and values they hated?

Our leaders aren’t this stupid. It’s just the lie they feel they have to tell us. Otherwise we might start questioning why we believe in this self-destructive values as well.

As Sundance regularly reminds us, leftists have to pretend not to know things. Their worldview depends on it.

Anyone who had been over there since 2010 knew it would collapse in days.

This came as no surprise to anyone who actually spent time as boots on the ground.

They clearly need to hire a racist as an advisor. Someone to say "Maybe we shouldn't trust the inbred pederasts to stand firm as they cover our retreat?"

BidenLikesMiners 1 point ago +1 / -0

If they arent ALL fired, this will be the eventual downfall of our nation.
