Not quite. BLM is nowhere to be found because it wasn't either Whitey or cops. They don't take on black gang members either, and not because they're afraid, it's because they don't give a damn.

'Unsubstantiated' in this case likely means 'police heard the perps were a muslim gang and thus immediately decided the 14 year old girls were just easy sluts'.
When you don't police people, the people become the police.
Vigilantism is bad, but it invariably springs up when local municipalities fail to adequately enforce the law.

Indeed. The total lack of confidence in UK law from most communities is at the root of this. The police are not trusted to tell the truth or enforce even serious laws, especially when doing so may be contrary to the work narrative.
