I don’t deny that Australia has turned towards authoritarianism in many aspects of its policy. I’m living it. But allusions to death camps is unnecessary.

This is really the crux of it. Leftists have operated in bad faith with obvious double standards every step of the way, so they'll have to forgive us if we imagine the literal quarantine camps might be backed by ill intent.
Also as (darkly, and from afar) amusing as the concept of "wellcamp" is, actually Wellcamp is name of the city and its airport and it's just a coincidence.
These are the sort of things that you would think would be considered when establishing something. But I suppose that is too far beyond the ability of the average politician, and meme magic is both real, and a bitch.
