Anyone have any luck getting people to stop being hysterical about Covid? I’ve mentioned before that the cheerleading of the protests/riots last summer should’ve opened everyone’s eyes to the truth of this “deadly” virus. Also once again they talk about cases. Notice we don’t know the health of these people either.
All I do is try to maintain a healthy lifestyle and take vitamins and zinc. In my area a lot of vitamins were sold out.
If only they would’ve simply talked about who was at a higher risk. The fear mongering will continue till enough people just turn it off. I’ve given up trying to convince people.
The left-controlled media poisons the well so that if you question the narrative you "out" yourself as a "bad person". And since you are a "bad person" nobody who is a "good person" needs to listen to anything you have to say.
"Honest dialogue" is dead, you are always attacking an entrenched position. Where any direct assault has the opposite effect of making the other side dig in further.
I don't have a solution but if its someone who you have an existing relationship with you can start with playful mockery and see where that goes. Like if they support vaccine passports argue that anyone who doesn't take the vaccine should arrested and thrown in a camp. If they disagree accuse them of wanting to kill grandma. effectively make them argue against a more extreme version of their position.
But in general don't waste time debating. Just find like minded people.
Yesterday I looked out the window where there was a mom herding a group of young girls up the sidewalk heading back from a Puget Sound expedition, girls 8 or 10- years old, lovely summer day. The entire lot was masked up tight.
The county issued new covid guidelines for indoors in the last few days. Some people don't seem to understand the difference between 'inside' and 'outside'. Those poor kids.
You cannot change other people's minds, you can only attempt to control your own life.
True. I shake my head when I see people in masks.
No I actually came very close to being permanently estranged from my parents because of an argument about it a year ago.
Of course now with a years' worth of this shit continuing and Fox and ConInc finally coming more around to my way of thinking they agree with me more than not on the topic. But as a result I don't recommend anyone try to debate people on this topic unless they already show some skepticism in this area, and even then I would start with basic bitch arguments like "Isn't it weird how we went a complete 180 on all this in March, and no one acknowledged that it happened or faced any consequences for misreading the situation initially?"
Like most things from within this "pit" we all inhabit, no one ever wants to see these things; but once you do you can't help but see them.
Typically, I start by shutting down the whole over-blown COVID death-count. I inform people that the numbers are people who died with COVID, not from COVID. Huge distinction.
If anyone wants to further press the issue (but few do, since most normies have no clue how to access the information and don't even bother, most are just regurgitating what they've heard on CNN), I just point out that all the COVID hysteria and deaths reported by the media are over-inflated; I usually direct people to the news articles showing that health authorities are using completely unrelated deaths to stack the COVID death count (i.e., suicides, overdoses, accidents, the explosive black-on-black murder rates, etc.,)
The key is getting them to read the info for themselves, and that usually means telling them to go to Yandex or another search engine that doesn't use Google's "Dragon" algorithms to hide data/links.
If they still persist with the argument "B-b-but the CDC said death rates were up in 2020!" I point to the fact that overdoses/suicides and murders were significantly up in 2020, especially murders, which skyrocketed by 30% compared to 2019.
If you can calmly point people in the right direction they can view the info on their own, and it becomes a real eye-opener for them. Seeing their faces when they encounter the facts for themselves is always priceless.
This assumes you can approach people rationally. Most people I have spoken to are still at the "if you aren't wearing masks you want grandma to die" level.
Of course if you can have such a rational discussion with someone -- and they are open to looking at alternate sources and using alternate search engines instead of saying "what the hell is 'Yandex'?" and balking when they find out it's Russian -- then your approach probably works. But if they are willing to do that I would probably put them in the "show some skepticism" group.
I have two approaches.
For neutrals, I use logic, thought experiments, and the occasional meme to keep some levity.
For Corona-chan death cultists, though... You can't speak to a Frenchman in English, he won't understand no matter how well you speak English. Go so deep blue pill that unless it's under a laser light, it looks like a black pill. They want to police masks? Police their mask use with PROPER mask handling rules, and scream at them that they're killing grandma if they do something like touch their ear or brush against their mask or not swap it with a new one every hour or breath too heavily. If they attempt to throw out a mask NOT in a biohazardous waste container, they're killing grandma. If they get within 6 feet, killing grandma. If they touch ANYTHING without sanitizing before AND after, killing grandma. If their beliefset is true, then they're evil for their breaches of conduct, and they deserve to be treated as such. If they don't actually believe any of this shit, then they shouldn't act like death cultists.
Treat others as if the way THEY treat others is the way they wish to be treated. They want to be death cultists? That MIT study showed that anti-maskers and anti-MRNA experimenters are more educated in the science. Use that knowledge. Just because they're the choir doesn't mean they know their scriptures, preach to them harder, until they go anti just to be contrarian to you.
Funny how it's always the fascists that are arguing for personal freedom....
I've been fortunate to not run into many members of the branch covidians. I've encountered two people, both with the same weaselly face/body, who got mad at me about social distancing, but thats it. Most of my family, friends and coworkers either know its a scam and are actively resisting it or just going along (with masks and vaccines) until its over. Literally no one I know truly believes it. It's what gives me hope.
I guess I should also point out I work a blue collar job and most of my friends and family are too. Maybe thats it?
Only ever temporarily, they continue to sit and passively consume the constant stream of media fear-porn and slowly slip back into irrationality, and need dragging back into balance again and again.
If they could learn to make their own choices they would have by now, the ones left are the ones who put their own thoughts in the hands of everyone around them, and for those it's a just constant tug of war against the professional propagandists.
I've tried, but if they can't make it past the fact that Covid has a 99.5% survival rate then they won't listen to anything you say because in their minds it's a scary lethal plague of doom, not a flu.
No amount of evidence or statistics will change their mind because they didn't arrive at their opinion through reason in the first place.
Being against Degeneracy and child porn/prostitution / sexual experimentation. Honestly I'm surprised more didn't vote for the nazi's after learning a bit more about weimar germany.
