Complacency is the death of objectivity. Simply put, trolls bring chaos into an organized structure. This lets you either sharpen your stone with facts or cede to a higher argument. We wouldn’t be here without skepticism, so for even the smallest interlude to question us brings about the refinement of our position or a change in how we view current situations. Downvotes are an anethema to the situation, not a response.

Tell that to /pol/. All you have there are people low-effort bot posting for the almighty shekel. You posture like there is some intellectual debate to be had with ours, or that there is a platform that favors the sort of open discussion that would allow for it.
The time for a battleground of ideas has been over for a really long time.
Leaving the door open for dissent and even low rate Bantz like our trolls provide is what separates us from the cancel culture. They can throw every faggot they find against me, I’ll still walk forward.
Here's the thing, they're not here to banter or rib. There was a time and a place for that, which was about a decade ago.
The goal now is displacement and there are entire communities dedicated to this, fancying themselves as "de-radicalizers" using "mk ultra tactics". Letting them get any kind of purchase is like giving your community to them and not for this meritocracy of ideas, but because of sheer volume and hierarchal subversion - all of the sudden they take a mod position, then the whole thing goes to shit. They don't care about your intellectualizations, they want you gone.
I wish it was different, but fuck if it isn't the same shit over and over. Dissent is something you don't even have to look for anymore, look at how many holdouts they have and you tell me if it's a winning strategy to be accepting of what basically amounts to sophistry at best and abhorrent garbage on average. Something they can literally just program.
In any case I don't think anyone is banning anyone for the "wrong opinion".
Leftists do not banter and do not debate.
They are here to demoralize, spread highly biased disinformation, or to fedpost so hard their enemies are killed by the leftist security state.
Torture and genocide is a leftist hobby since 1792.

I wouldn't mind so much if they actually put in effort, but at this point its mostly just screams.
OTH, Haterjuiced might be starting to crack from the /pol/ pressure, but we'll see if the guy behind the name gets replaced.
the shill orgs don't pay enough for high-quality bait, and I don't think we're a big enough target for proper trolls to put in the effort.
Low quality trolls usually mean you’re hitting too close to home. Think of trolls like societal pressure, when you can overstep them consistently then your argument has more merit.
The guy here is not the real Haterjuiced.
I don't have a position, I come here for the shitz and giggles. Maybe if we had better quality trolls it might be funnier. But they're not.
Downvotes are for when your debating partner isn't even debating, merely shitting the bed in public.
We’re part of a community?
We live in a society.
Honk.
Well said Trudeau

I agree that trolls are good for honing one's critical thinking skills (same goes for "misinformation"), but that doesn't mean they are good for a community. Chaos agents should always come from outside, and their FUD or truth filtered and brought in by someone who doesn't seek to destroy the community. I don't think downvotes affect a thing.
Honestly, I would try trolling to see if it worked, but you're just not worth it. None of this is. It takes a lot of work to balance a true troll response and I just don't have the time or will. This is why we get "ya'll are incels, hur-dur-hur," instead of...fuck, I can't even get up enough thought to give a good troll plot.
Lemme try again.
Nothing. Sorry. You're just boring and this community is wiped emotionally from reality.
Trolls are not agents of unmitigated chaos or skepticism absolutists, they are just spergs with specific agendas and a willingness to lie and/or break rules. Generally that agenda is pushing a specific viewpoint or just shitting up communication in any way possible, but their inability to engage in good faith is what makes them a troll.
Whether any specific someone is a troll is up for debate, but that trolls are actually unhealthy is pretty much the part of the definition of a troll.
