Wasn't it pretty obvious from the community quest and it's trailer prior to the new trailer?
To me, a newbie who trembles and becomes disabled in fear of their enemies has a 99% chance of becoming a turncoat for power. Especially with that character design.
EDIT: A better reason is the inclusion of the stupid as fuck tranny couple from the module into the game (though that might be a contractual req from WOTC) They did hide the tranny dialogue behind a DR 50 (i think) roll though
After some thought, I don't feel the adventurer team is diversity mandated.
A male rogue (new recruit), two frontliners (Whitey + Nigger), a cleric (female human), and a ranger (female elf). Almost stereotypical classes and race+gender.
The Whitey even saved the day with his ascension to a Mythic Class.
Or is that Legend not sure.
Personally I play D&D games with a variation of the above lineup. (With female rogue instead of male).
That looks like a priest and not a cleric, being a female healer does look on the tame side. And having the white male going off like that does make it somewhat interesting.
But this is Paizo so I expect everyone to turn gay or trans and a lot of stupid diversity. I did hate Kingmaker so Ill most likely pirate it, try it out, get half way thru and then uninstall as being garbage, that had some of the worse dialogue, modern day characters and characters I could not stomach.
More interesting for me is when black dudes became stereotypical in DnD? I honestly thought them very rare but that depends on personal experience, I guess.
Not complaining just making an observation.
Maybe a black frontliner is not stereotypical as I thought, but him just being a Nigger = woke?
I felt like the typical muscle nigger being an armoured Barbarian is more unwoke than anything, could've made him a mage. Which I just realised the party doesn't have.
And yes there's plenty of gay companions for sure. And more stupid dialogue that's modern. Just hopefully there's no more simping for females like in Kingmaker for Nyrissa.
Definitely not about black dude = woke, I was just curious. Even BG1 and 2 had black companions and that was over 2 decades ago. I do appose having modern day London diversity in medieval kingdoms but at this point I have to accept it, I just pirate to make me feel better.
I consider woke if you put black people in a setting that is inspired by a historical period where blacks were not present in Europe, eg. Witcher and Kingdom Come Deliverance. I do not consider it SJW, just SJW influenced, having black people in DOS2 because I have no idea what the history of that place is and I can just assume that some great war forced humans to band together in a single Kingdom, under one god via some magical means.
I miss the time where black people used to come from far exotic places, shrouded in mystery and ancient powers. It was so much cooler then what we have now. It used to make the world seem huge and mysterious.
Then I'll give it a try, I hated Kingmaker and almost all the companions but I did like the character creation, map interaction and rule implementation.
this mod lets you edit savegames and replace portraits for all NPCs and companions with custom art. Replacement affects splash screens.
If you hate their dialogue and voices, you can use this same mod to edit your cash and purchase a roster of companions you get to customize yourself.
That seems very sad, but I do understand somewhat and the early stuff is considerably better in Pathfinder.
On a different note, I'm currently trying to DM the Age of Worms adventure path. I've not DMd before but new players are easy to impress :)
Eh, I backed the Kickstarter to support the studio due to Kingmaker being decently made. If you know anything about Paizo you'd know that there would be SJW nonsense in any of there adventure paths from the past 6-8 years. It's usually pretty easy to ignore though, and as a GM I tend to skip past those aspects as they're often just back story.
You are right about it being easy to ignore. for me it's still an annoying thorn because I like the 3.x era and I loved the era of Paizo's birth back when they were truly on the edge. Necromancers Games and Frog God Games wrote adventures that truly got me into the hobby. I always saw Paizo as their scion and it burns me to remember what they were like in their prime and how they got eaten by identity politics.
I also still support the game. KSed Kingmaker and just missed Wrath - but I do intend to buy it anyway.
That’s why they keep doing it, because people keep the money pouring in regardless. There’s lots of old games I want to play, but refuse to buy because the companies have gone full regressive/predatory.
You have to have principles and speak with your wallet if you want to stop seeing this content. Complaining on the Internet does nothing (for our opinions, we’re a minority that is not listened to).
I am usually on board with boycotting SJWs, but there is more to this one for me. Tabletop 3.x is my favorite gaming engine. Pathfinder 1st edition is it's last iteration.
In the tabletop world, its done. The company moved on to 2nd edition (a very cucked abomination), 3rd party publishers all but dropped supporting the old edition.
This game is perhaps the last product made for 1st Edition Pathfinder.
Besides, it's kind of easy for me to lay the blame for sjw bullshit on Paizo here - the company that were the hero until they became the villain, and still give a nod to Owlcat Games who did a good job in adopting the ruleset.
Don’t pirate the game. Don’t feel entitled to steal someone’s hard work just because you disagree with their politics. If you do, you’re just as scummy as they are. Just don’t play the game. If thats too hard, then just purchase it honestly.
That is you, after ruining most of my hobbies with woke crap I'm fully entitled to steal their hard work, just how they feel entitled to crap on the legacy of the people who started and loved the hobbies to begin with.
Do what you like, but I would never lose sight of the fact that these people are still individuals who work hard for a living for the purpose to creating what you enjoy. I refuse to let my disdain for their beliefs become an excuse to exploit, abuse or take advantage of them. That’s a sign of bad character and a slippery slope you don’t want to go down.
I honestly do not care, they do not care about source material so there must be a price to pay for that. Me and a few thousand others not buying/ pirating is in fact the price they've assumed when they made the turn hard left.
They've made it clear they do not care about previous fans or right wing people in general so I'm not going to disappoint those pink hair freaks and give those that hate me money.
Maybe I'm just to old and just try to rationalize to much, but the difference is that they were destroying property of innocent people, that had nothing to do with fenetyl floyds death.
When I pirate woke games they literally do not lose anything, it has 0 impact on them. More then that they are the ones directly responsible for the woke crap infecting my hobbies.
But you do have a point and maybe I'm just a grumpy, old 30 year old. Best solution is to not play them, but without playing them I can't be sure they are not woke.
So I'll concede that I should pirate the games then buy it if I enjoy it despite having woke elements. Although I'm not going to do that cause I hate them to much.
And I did not like Kingmaker. I would tell Paizo to go suck a rooster but I have a feeling they already do that daily.
Did you like kingmaker? Despite the bugs, loading screens, cringe dialog, SJW influences all around?
I've tried so much to like it, but the characters are so unlikable. After a long time trying to power thru it I just ended up playing NWN2 again.
I am playing it now. I like it. When it came it out it was abysmal - but it was because there was no turn based. With Turn Based, its now legit the best CRPG game I know of.
As for the sjw influence - idk, aside from the slut pair of ex-slaves, I don't read the rest as being to sjwish. I see some anti-sjw stuff to counter balance it. Kingmaker was among the first AP's released by Paizo, back before Paizo went hard left. It has its good moments.
I can't figure a world where Kingmaker is better in anyway then NWN2 or DOS2.
I can only assume you've not played this games. If you can stomach the graphic from NWN2, I do recommend it and with the MotB expansion, is has a great story, great characters and no SJW stuff in it.
its a matter of the systems they employ. Neither NWN2 nor DOS2 allow such a breadth of options and possibilities of making a character and custom companions as Kingmaker
Playing through Kingmaker rn. So far hasn't been too terrible SJWwise, just typical Paizo shit. The game is really well done in regards to faithfulness to tabletop mechanics, one of the best I've played.
Only thing that's really annoyed me so far is the loading splash screen for Octavia. "She's the strong female companion I've always wanted" But that's been the most glaring thing to me so far, and it's very minor. Granted, I'm only 2 major quests in after murderating the Stag Lord
I'm about 40 hours in and I'm not minding it so far. The thing about CRPGs especially Pillars of Eternity is I don't want them to bore me and this hasn't so far. Octavia I've benched as she's better as a Chaotic Good Regent for me while I'm out exploring.
There is some decent environments and side quests to find (Cypress Queen Set) for instance and while the companions don't stand out, I find myself using Kaessi alot, mainly because the Kinetic class is really interesting to use, especially with different infusions and abilities that provides, different from say a vanilla mage.
So you noticed that is a lot of feminism influence, a lot of gay stuff, male companions are pathetic except black dude in second act, cause of course they will force the only likable, family oriented character to be black but I'll take that. Dialogue tends to be modern and off somehow, maybe it is the translation from Russian but maybe the writers are trash.
But despite all of this you still like it? Not observing it I understand but to notice all of this and still like it I can't.
In the defense of the game I did like the rule set implemented and I do dig the map and character creation, once they sorted most of the bugs out.
I actually did do that at one point. I replaced my companions with mercenaries, custom portraits and all, better back story as well. I remember mercenaries being expensive as fuck. Was that fixed?
I would even dispute the 'strong independent women' bit. Amiri at first glance is the feminist barbarian girl, but she literally submits to the PC as her Chief within 2 hours into the game.
Valerie is just a caricature - her whole back story is so ridiculous, especially coupled with her completely mediocre appearance that in my court she is basically the jester except she doesn't know it.
Past that - Kingmaker is the only CRPG I know where you can get legitimate threesome relationship with male PC and 2 sisters. That kind of polygamy i like.
If it's not the woman, it's highly unrealistic.
Is Paizo, the line between male and female is blurry.
The new recruit was the traitor?
Wasn't it pretty obvious from the community quest and it's trailer prior to the new trailer?
To me, a newbie who trembles and becomes disabled in fear of their enemies has a 99% chance of becoming a turncoat for power. Especially with that character design.

Is this the continuation of Pathfinder: kingmaker?
No, different storyline. Same general engine though it looks like.
Then I'll give it a try, I hated Kingmaker and almost all the companions but I did like the character creation, map interaction and rule implementation.
Question: 'Rule implementation' - did you try it turn based or real time? real time sucked in that game, but turn based is very good imo.
Consider looking at it again and using mods for companions.
https://www.nexusmods.com/pathfinderkingmaker/mods/76
this mod lets you edit savegames and replace portraits for all NPCs and companions with custom art. Replacement affects splash screens. If you hate their dialogue and voices, you can use this same mod to edit your cash and purchase a roster of companions you get to customize yourself.
I'm going to wait for of "those" mods, if you get my drift. Kingmaker's launch was rough and I doubt the devs have gotten any better at bug shooting.
What mods? Link?
I was thinking of playing Kingmaker after revently watching Mandalore review it.
A community patch. Can't link anything, it doesn't exist yet.
I mean similar patches or just any useful patches for Kingmaker.
Oh Kingmaker. I haven't played that one in a while, I wouldn't know. Might just want to search for it.
It takes place in the same universe, but it's not a sequel, much like Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights.
if anyone ever wants to check out the source material from tabletop
https://thetrove.is/Books/Pathfinder%20%5Bmulti%5D/1st%20Edition/Adventure%20Paths/
you can download PDFs of all the adventure paths here. I like to read these as short stories
That seems very sad, but I do understand somewhat and the early stuff is considerably better in Pathfinder. On a different note, I'm currently trying to DM the Age of Worms adventure path. I've not DMd before but new players are easy to impress :)
..I barely have a grasp on what even happened.
There's some vibes for Darkest Dungeon in there. The eyeless artwork, the importance of light and darkness.
Hm... Should I guess the woke answer is a white man? Or should I guess the stereotype answer of something else?
Loki. It's always the tranny.
Oops, wrong mythos.

not going to stop me from buying the game - too big a fan of the system and but sad to see game devs I like, consistently cuck out

learn 2 pirate - and instead donate the price of the game to some based organization like an Eastern Orthodox Church https://youtu.be/HNXe4P_6dhw
Time playing woke garbage instead of playing good stuff is time wasted, pirated or not.
Why?
"Hey k2win, what did you do this weekend?"
"Oh, I played some [non-woke tabletop game]"
"Never heard of it, what's that like?"
The word of mouth spreads and works, and it's exactly what we need to promote.
Don’t pirate the game. Don’t feel entitled to steal someone’s hard work just because you disagree with their politics. If you do, you’re just as scummy as they are. Just don’t play the game. If thats too hard, then just purchase it honestly.

...yet you don’t actually care enough about your principles to just not play the game. I guess that’s asking too much.
This is the same mentality that gave us “these kicks are for Floyd”. Theft for social justice; how convenient.
Maybe I'm just to old and just try to rationalize to much, but the difference is that they were destroying property of innocent people, that had nothing to do with fenetyl floyds death.

someone needs a refresher
Yeah, sorry, but that doesn’t even make sense.

Went to the trouble to switch the 'strong females' with very lewd fetish variants. Makes them bearable.
