Lapsed Catholic here. You should be able to just walk in and do as everyone else does. Mass will consist of a whole lot of kneeling and singing along from a song book. Communion might be weird for you but just follow the other people in your pew, hold your hands together and when you get to the priest it's right hand under the left as you extend to receive the eucharist. Pop it in your mouth, step to the side and make the sign of the cross before walking back to your seat. You can just follow the rest of the people in your pew.
Also exchanging the sign of peace; basically shake hands with everyone around you and say "peace be with you". It's really not hard and no one knows you're a filthy heathen. I still go to church every Christmas because it makes my Mom happy.

You can walk in. Churches don't judge for the most part.

As I recall it's a violation of canon law to give communion to a non-Catholic (not that anyone cares, least of all the priests).
I get roped into Catholic stuff regularly, I've only done communion when there's only like 10 of us and it'd be weird if I skipped.
If its a catholic church, yes, but you cant get the communion. . I dont know about other sects.
