Today we will discuss which games should win our award for "Best RPG", who should win our "Zoe Quinn Award" for engaging in degeneracy for influence, and who should receive our "Golden Pooh" award for being the most subservient to the Chinese Communist Party.
Please consider what you would like to argue should be the winning item for each of the passing categories.
Additionally, consider who you would like to nominate as your electors. You may choose 3 electors to cast votes for you on your behalf. Persuade them as necessary. You may choose yourself once. The top 12 most nominated electors will assemble as our electoral tribunal, and will vote on the final categories. Feel free to message me directly with your nomination, or comment your nominations publicly. The electors are allowed to vote their own conscience.
Golden Pooh: Blizzard, the Blitzchung incident.
Cancelled my WoW classic sub over that, even though I was enjoying the hell out of it. Every couple of months I get the urge to go back - and every time I just remind myself of the Blitzchung incident, and the urge magically fades away.
Blizzard are 100% dead to me until they show me that they can stop sucking CCP dick.
Oh. the dick-sucking started with their special overhaul of Wrath specially for "Chinese sensibilities" (editing out of human zombie bones coz chinks zt-re self-worshipping pussies)
What about Riot? Aren't they almost wholly owned by Tencent now?
I'd rather give it to something NOT BLATANTLY owned by the Chinese. It's more pathetic when they do it than someone bought by Tencent.
They do it for free, huh? At least if you're a whore it's an honest business transaction.
I loved Yakuza Like a Dragon. Easily the best game and best RPG of 2020 for me.
Before playing the game I thought that without Kiryu or Majima as the main characters and without the original beat em up combat system, it wouldn't be that good.
Turns out the game is really fun and easily one of the best experiences I had in this fucking miserable year.
I loved the main story, the rpg gameplay was a fun change of pace and Ichiban Kasuga is a very likeable protagonist.
The game also portrays various political issues in a fair manner without the current western developer mindset of pushing completely leftist propaganda.
I think anyone who likes RPGs or likes a good story or likes the Yakuza series, should give the game a chance.
I give the game a 9.5/10.
To give some context to Yakuza fans here, in terms of the Yakuza series I have completed all the games available so far on pc: Yakuza 0, Kiwami, Kiwami 2 and Like a Dragon.
Out of these four games, I would rank them
Yakuza 0> Yakuza Like a Dragon > Yakuza Kiwami 2> Yakuza Kiwami 1
Most subservient to the CCP : How about Call of Duty's "Know your History" trailer being changed to remove footage of that thing that definitely didn't happen despite being a trailer all about communist influence and hiding the truth.
Golden Pooh, I would go with publisher, Activision-blizzard when censoring pro Hong Kong peeps and then goG.
Others include Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Trails of Cold Steel IV- End of Saga. Though I haven't played either of them (still waiting on ColdSteel IV's PC port) to really offer any opinion to sway your judgment.
There was also a Paper Mario game that released this year, though it was a bit on the weak and repetitive side as Nintendo RPGs go.
There was also a very good Animal Crossing game. Then Biden's campaign used the game to build a Biden island you could visit (which they tried to push like Joe actually built it for fuck's sake!) and Nintendo let that shit roll for over a month through election day and didn't hit them with "please dont use our game for political reasons" statement until a little after (almost 30 days exactly, I wonder what that cost) so fuck everyone involved in that shenanigan.
Golden Pooh: GOG cancelled a game precisely for using Pooh imagery, so it would be rather fitting. Not to mention how they lied and said it was due to gamer feedback.
I mostly play yesteryear's RPGs in my massive backlog, so I can't comment on titles like Yakuza: Like a Dragon (still haven't finished Yakuza 0...), but I did start - though have yet to complete - Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. Should be a good shout at least if factoring in remasters.
GoG: removing an entire game because of one easter egg that offended Pooh of the Loo.
But WHICH CCP?
The one that endorses mass genocide, adopts bad economic policies, and never listens to its citizenry?
Or the Chinese one?
There's a difference?
Yeah. One of them is Icelandic.
FFVIIR, despite it's many flaws, was a solid RPG with the best production value I've ever seen in a game. I feel it deserves something for this.
I'd like to argue Sakuna: of Rice and Ruin. Sold well and is a charming enough home.
