If people are waking up to the war on Christmas, maybe one day they'll realize Gamergate was telling the truth too.

Some of the old arguments were stupid, like about whether or not Starbucks put Merry Christmas on it's cups.

The issue is that they've gotten so crazy I wouldn't be surprised if they wrote "Kill Whitey" on the cups at this point. Everything is 2 orders of magnitude crazier than it used to be.

Hell, "Kill Vanilla Whitey" will probably be a Ben & Jerry's flavor in a year or so.

To be fair, the secularization of Christmas was less of an act of communism, and more of a degradation of Christianity among the populace. I know plenty will not like to hear this, but that is a fundamental failing of the Church to maintain their own flocks and adapt to the rejection of social authoritarianism through politics.

The fact that the left adopted social authoritarianism is one of the few reasons why Christians have a chance going forward. A victory for Christians will involve not dictating social authoritarianism, but by rejecting that government has anything to say in regards to religion and vice versa.

Check out all the replies of lefties crying about "new athiests being alt right" (lol bull) and making up random theories as to why. Maybe because people are recognizing that YOU are a cult?

If you're called alt-right it means the genocidal ISIS/BLM pedos want you dead for being too human and sane for their tastes.

Basically. Any good atheist knows the signs of a religion when their in one.

It seems clear to me that there are a bunch of Atheists that never "Deconverted". I think that some of our Evangelical opponents were right to accuse some of us for simply being "angry at God".

A Secular Theist, is still a fucking Theist. Some of these idiots simply changed one God for another.

I've described these "atheists" as having a religion shaped hole they try to fill. They still need someone or something providing direction and morals instead of figuring it out for themselves. They still need an evil to oppose. I'd feel sorry for them, if they weren't dangerous lunatics in denial of reality.

I've got little sympathy for them because they are simply the stereotypes that Evangelicals threw at us.

There are atheists that deconverted, but the interesting thing is that those people became atheists after years of internal conflict about it, and experiencing a genuine "loss of faith". The whole process is actually almost traumatic before it gets to be liberating.

They didn't just watch a YouTube video and go "obviously God is silly". They actually tried to prove God existed to themselves, and then realized that not only was it impossible, the whole effort of failure was the larger message that the whole concept of God simply couldn't be true. In science, there's a point where you test all the boundary conditions, and you're getting repeated failures, and then you have to start questioning whether the very assumptions of your model are wrong. That is an unpleasant and difficult place to get to, but that's what happens to deconvert.

Once you get past that point, the entire idea of worshiping a God just wouldn't even make sense. That's why I agree with the claim that the atheists who re-engage with theism, really weren't atheists. They never genuinely de-converted, because otherwise you have to build your faith purely on things you know aren't true, and that's a whole different moral dilemma.

I know. Went through it myself during my formative years. Didn't officially make the leap until thirteen years after I first questioned the existence of god. But deep down I still want mentally ill people to get the help they clearly need and to stop throwing themselves at the nearest pseudo cult. I'm a bit of a softy in that regard.

Those people are actually far to few.

I think the horrible truth is that we are surrounded by normal people who have been exposed to emotional and psychological abuse on an industrial scale for most of their formative years, particularly with the assistance of schools, the media, and social media.

They're not really mentally ill. They're abused.

The signs look similar only because the outlandish behavior would come from either/or. But in our case, it's coming from the result of abuse. These are actually perfectly normal people who have been grievously abused by an industrial system that profits and consolidates power off it, while claiming to care about them. It's truly evil.

Put it like this. If you found a Church where 30% of the kids killed themselves after having attended it for 15 years. Is that just because there's a weird fluke in the population where the children keep having depression, or is it because they're depressed and suicidal as a result of being raped by the priest and having no ability to get help?

crying about "new athiests being alt right" (lol bull)

This is always what they do after they infiltrate a space: pretend it was theirs all along and is under “siege” by the very people who were there before.

The atheist community was primarily a male-dominated space, and was focused on atheism itself. Feminists and other intersectionalists didn’t like this for both those reasons (men bad, and it isn’t all about them). They create “Atheism+” but gradually seize power in the mainstream movement itself.

Suddenly “atheism” is all about accepting non-falsifiable “theories” about gender, race, etc. and those old school atheists are treated as invaders in their own home.

Even in 2016 when he wrote that first tweet, it was still mostly just corporations writing 'happy holidays' on things. Hardly something worth caring about.

In 4 short years we've gone from that, to literally being told that saying 'merry christmas' is intolerance and bigotry.

Dogwhistle politics represents nothing less than the total systematic destruction of all political discourse. The moment they lobbed that grenade, politics as we knew it was over.

"I'm dreaming of a White Holiday."

All those bittersweet /pol/ meme videos of "smile because it happened" come to mind. Like they say, don't let your dreams be dreams.

This guy was always an edgelord.

No, he's just English. He's pretty milquetoast to our ears. It's American christians who get shocked by what he has to say. Over here, the contents of The God Delusion is nothing surprising to hear from anyone calling themselves a scientist.
