So, moving forward on this GOTY system, I'm proposing the below categories.
To see which categories you are all interested in, if you chose to participate, I'd like you to state in a new comment below which categories you approve of, which categories you would like to remove. Any response is welcome, but if you would like to be simple, an aye or nay after the name of a category will work fine.
If you would like to make a new category, reply directly to the post in a new comment. I'll try to add it to the list.
If someone has proposed a new category in the comment section, and you would like to approve or reject it. Reply to that category proposal stating your approval or rejection. Again, Aye or Nay are fine.
I will tabulate the proposed categories both here and on Reddit. The minimum for a category to be included in our GOTY considerations will be at least 12 more ayes than nays (since the electoral body will be of 12 electors). Primarily, we will need at least 12 people to care.
I don't intend to be too strict about the categories as they are defined, I want the electors to basically suss out what should or shouldn't be given the merit/demerit. Even if a game is not from 2020 because the genera has turned to shit, I wouldn't mind if the electors decided that's good enough. It's not about what is "objectively" best. Objective value does not exist (fuck you Marx), but what matters is that we make a recommendation to bring attention to good quality products... and to bring infamy against the morons occupying our hobby as a skin-suit.
We're not voting for electors yet, but if you think you might want to do it, you should start thinking about it now. You'll have to cast votes on these categories.
I'm keeping track of the voting record if it gets confusing. Ask me if you want to audit your yays & nays.

Hell, the Gingers are by far the most oppressed, because they get mudbathed by everything now.
"Et tu, Brute" award for biggest stab in the back from a respected professional.
Mitch McConnell.
I wouldn't even mind if it was supposed to be a gaming demerit that went to Mitch McConnel anyway. That's actually pretty funny.
Trumps court appointments
Amy Coney Barrett.
Considering it's you Id expect you to say Kavanaugh
Best Comic: I think some of the alternative comics-gate crowds came out with some stuff
ZQ: The "Zoe Quinn Award" for Biggest degeneracy for influence peddling (I was considering Biggest slag award or something)
Gingers: Yeah, I'll call it 'race-swapping'
Proposal: Make that a separate comment, if you don't mind. It will be easier to keep track of them that way.
I've already added it to the list, but if you want to add it as a separate comment, that will help me keep track of everything.
Though those two examples underscore why the category might not be a good idea: The first one's only scheduled to come out in summer of 2021 and the second one was scheduled for spring of 2020 but appears to have not actually ever come out. At least last I checked the New Warriors wasn't on sale anywhere and Daniel Kibblesmith's Amazon page had a big hole where it would have been.
Also, is that an aye vote fore verything else?
Counted.
All of those categories would be good as long as they can have around 4+ entries. Anything less than that is probably fine being dropped.
Are you giving your support for them (there are new proposed categories too). You may feel free to abstain.
Yeah I'll support everything that's there. Just that if there's some categories that don't get many entries, or if there's an obvious winner and barely anything else, then those are fine for removal too.

The Radista Award for the year's biggest useful idiot/s
Added to the list.
I'll +1 everything, but I'd personally trim categories where the choices are less than 4, or where names have to be scrounged from prior to 2019 in order to meet that criteria.
Edit: I also +1 the idea of segregating the VG and non-VG categories into separate sections.
Best Anime Tiddies (Game, original proposal) is way different than Best Anime Tiddies (Culture). Music as evilmathmagician suggested is a great example of this.
Counted
The "The fuck is this shit?" award, because no other label works and it certainly isn't a videogame.
Added
Gone Home Award - Cyberpunk 2077.
Best Kusogame: loosely translated to "shit game", kusogames can be quite charming and valuable in their own way. I would specify that a game has to appear low-effort and/or have stunningly poor implementation to qualify. You would not need to find anything good about the game greater than making you laugh or shocking you with terrible design. If you nearly love a game and one gigantic flaw ruins the whole thing for you, that could fit just as well (as long as the game doesn't better fit a different category). This is not intended as a demeritous award.
"Most Based and Redpilled Game"/"Most Philosophically Sane Game" is my second suggestion. I like the second label, but added the meme translation for the kids. This is intended as a merit award, as I think we could use a bigger Merit list. I consider philosophy often in my media and I think many others here might as well - this category is for games that carry valuable ideas that diverge from the scope of "anti-sjw" and "anti-communism".
I'll be the guy to suggest Best Porn Game as well. Just one rule: it must be more game than porn. I've seen my share of porn "games" - this isn't for that trash.

Counted, added.
I give a conditional nay vote on these. As the categories stand, these non-vidya entries are in the same group as vidya entries. There are no definitions laid out, so it creates an implication that more ambiguous entries such as "best music" could just be any music anywhere, and not the likely intended "best (vidya) music".
So, my condition to rescind nay voting those is to either seperate the non-vidya and vidya into different lists or to specify that ambiguous entries are for vidya (music is ambiguous and platformer is not ambiguous, as examples). I think the first option would look better and be more intuitive.
I'm gonna say aye for everything other than what I quoted. This is mostly out of laziness, but also curiousity. I'd also like to vote aye on all future additions, if possible, because it'll help force a system by to handle excess categories. Surely you weren't hoping for this thread's voting to have sufficient nays to trim any fat.
I'll make a seperate post for additional category suggestions.

I'm going to give +1 to everything. I honestly thought we forgot about this when the "real" awards happened.
Something has to reference TLOU2 and their many "awards" in our award names, surely.
The "It's totally not a cult" award for most obviously astroturfed acclaim.
Counted for everything that was here when you commented.
One is a joke about the last of us, but yeah, the other two are fairly similar.
What category could games like ace combat and project wingman compete for? Best Shooter? Definitely not best Sim.
Any, really. Let the electors vote their conscience and deal with the consequences.
Counted.
Maybe a "Most improved by re-release" category since remakes are getting more attention, not going away, and some are definitely better than others. Hell, we've had at least 5 or 6 bigger ones since September. Many are great games but don't really qualify as new for 2020.
I'll +1 all the other categories. All have merit.
Counted
I'll +1 everything. Particularly since the electors will have the ability to choose to not award a category if there's just nothing suitable in it, and that would be my main concern about too many categories.
Was this a thing in the past? I wasn't a Reddit participant, but I'd go poke around if there's previous year's content. I'm never up with the times enough to actually have any real input on 2020 media.
Oh, and my huge box of votes for TLOU2 for Game of the Year with no down-ballot voting to be introduced at 3am are ready and waiting for when the time comes. I'm told that in order to have the "most secure election in history" we must have these questionably sourced votes that you must not question at all.
Counted
I'm gonna mirror a few others and say that any category with less than four nominees should be dropped. Otherwise, +1 for all.
Counted
The "Why 3D model something this ugly into your Videogame" award, for the ugliest character in gaming.
Mostly because goddamn Cere from Jedi Fallen Order made me quit my playthrough with those unskippable cutscenes last year, and I don't even know WTF was going on with TLOU2 having a Abby as a protagonist.
Aye on all.
Last of Us 2 wins all the negative awards.
Counted
Aye to all basic, meritorious, and the "best x" in additional.
No strong feelings on the other proposed awards
