If you don't have experience with a Valve-run game specifically, they are not interested in PR. They aren't interested in community managers, or hubs for people to speak with developers or complain with developers.
That being said common complaints for games do usually get addressed but it is entirely on Valve Time and they do not adjust this due to people complaining (typically).
The reason I am saying this is because I have played dota 2 since closed beta (10ish years now?), TF2 in early years, and they just have always worked on their own time. And they are typically not interested in having a community facing worker, as that work fucking sucks.
Depends on gaming options like Vicious said below imo, I have an MMO mouse and a smaller/less button logitech mouse I use.
My logitech is wireless and I prefer wireless as any concept of latency issues or disconnecting are so long gone that they shouldn't even be humored.
Logitech - G502 - feels great and works well for me, big fan so far. They may have a wired version.
MMO Mouse - Corsair Scimitar - wired, works well, don't play MMOs anymore so just going to gather dust.
Valve uses VAC and has always used VAC, it is incredibly unlikely they would ever use a different anti-cheat imo.
Always possible but not very likely, and as for the OP, any game that attracts trannies and women in such high degrees is obviously not created for the good of gaming(see: Overwatch, FF14). And with the stake tencent has in Riot it isn't surprising they get some chinese spyware for it, I believe the same spyware is coming to LoL and their other games as well at some point, if it hasn't already.
Does anyone else that read the article find this interviewer's question very strange?
big mega corps in the US are laying off people and closing medium-tier studios at best "are you worried your Japanese parent company will lay off your Japanese staff?"
fromsoft has been making very successful releases repeatedly along with a huge dlc about to drop and you ask them if they are worried about being laid off? what a stupid piece of garbage this guy is
*i may have been rage baited...
That is a good way to describe it, probably most streaming from personalities just isn't for me and that is part of it for sure.
I definitely see the idol culture in it, I suppose it was only a matter of time as technology has improved to make anime girls "real" to some level as I have seen they do 3d stuff too and not just stationary stuff.
I find pretty much any type of singular streamer hard to watch, I mentioned in another comment but I just like to watch competitive events like dota2 tournaments or fighting game tournaments from time to time.
I've watched a handful of wow streamers that I liked for awhile, a paladin player and a warrior player that did arenas. But trying to watch normal/popular/big streamers has always felt painful and fake is a great word for the entire concept.
I have definitely enjoyed the best of clips as well, there are some funny situations and memes from vtubers I have loved.
That is all pretty fair and it is disingenuous of me to say they are all mediocre, I have only seen a handful and they may be playing something like minecraft or some current/modern meme game where skill doesn't really matter.
I am not a fan of female streamers myself, for similar reasons as vtubers probably. I really only watch certain competitive games I am interested in like dota2 and fighting games.
I did hear about that Pokimane situation and had the exact same thought about what kind of pathetic man can do that at all, even in privacy, much less announce it to the world that way. Something about that guy really makes me feel better about myself just for not being him, lol.
All that to say I am not really anti vtuber, I just don't know any vtuber fans and it does seem like a concept that should appeal to me in theory. I probably worded things more harshly or negatively than intended.
For me it is how uninteresting the girls are, how silly I find them acting like a character, especially when they heavily lean into it "I'm a time goddess" or some shit like that.
When I have tried watching in the past, I've caught groups of girls (just miserable to watch a bunch of younger women talking about nothing). When it's just one of them, they seem to be fairly mediocre at games, so that makes it less interesting for me as well.
I like women and females to be clear, but I think there is some dissonance with them pretending to be an anime girl, which I assume is because they are ugly. I know that not all of them are ugly, but It is my knee-jerk reaction to hiding behind an avatar instead.
That is probably enough reasons? Despite being very into anime for most of my life, this is something that just really doesn't resonate with me. I am however quite curious about the people keeping these girls afloat, because I don't know a single person (irl) that participates in that community and I purely know about them due to being terminally online.
Not trying to judge any of you guys either, just curious about the type of people watching this.
So who are the people vtubers are marketing to?
I know about vtubers, I know the name of some vtubers, but every single one of them is completely unwatchable for me even when I have tried.
I'm a weeb, I'm a single guy, if I am not the target demographic who is?
This is a genuine question to you guys because god damn are vtubers something I really don't understand.
SMT5 was pretty fun, I believe the re-release with extra content is coming to PC soon if it hasn't already. Stylistically I enjoyed it, and I liked the gameplay a lot as well, looking like this new version will be good too, if you haven't checked out the newest entry.
Lots of fun stuff with that, rolling for silly things, serious things, interesting things, background rolls for perception and survival as you walk around, arcana/history/religious checks mid-conversation that can open up new dialogue, I really enjoy the way they have set it up.
I finally started bg3 myself, been enjoying it for the most part, definitely noticing that I can't even be kind to the male characters in my party or they will try to have sex with me. Outside of that and now that I'm only kind to the women for any social situations, the combat and battles have been quite fun.
Up to you of course but I strongly recommend some QoL mods for Valheim, as well as additional equipment options. I'm not big on adding too much immersion breaking mods, but I really enjoy additional building options and having a variety of weapons on hand.
As a reincarnated aristocrat has actually a ton of great male role models of a wide variety of personalities and motivations. I'm not a huge fan of the series but I do appreciate their character work, including the more limited female characters.
For western media I agree you have to go back quite awhile, and I always appreciated Uncle Phil.
The concept is a lot of fun I think, but like many things it gets beaten to death and then beaten into paste and then shit all over by corporations and dogshit writers.
It was a mistake because we can't have nice things but I do think the idea is good at its core.
I think this is a facet of us teaching people the answers and not the problem solving skills to arrive at these answers/solutions.
We(humans) do this a lot as we build off of past knowledge constantly and have developed society and technology into what it is today. But it is assuming that low iq people can understand why we used to do things in the past, and no longer do them today. I think that is why most leftists seem so retarded, no foundational knowledge or real critical thinking, just were taught answers to hard questions.
I was actually about to type the same idea and deleted it all, I don't see the purpose of sharing a retard's opinion from twitter.
Why share even a famous retard's opinion on twitter? To even more of a degree than that, who fucking cares what some lesbian woman thinks about men, or honestly anything?
Listening to the Unabomber Manifesto after a coworker recommended it, during my commutes, its a short (<4 hours) listen but just started it this morning so should finish it this week.
Before that I was reading the book of Enoch out of general interest and curiosity, didn't finish it but did enjoy quite a few passages.
These days I mostly listen to or read philosophical stuff, if you can call the two above part of that genre.
I'll be honest I don't have an issue with QTEs, but I think there is a time and place for them. I think they are for action games like MGS:Revengeance and Asura's Fist - I'm not saying these are great games or that QTEs make them better, but that they fit in that kind of gameplay and world imo.
In general I think they are dogshit, and I have an example of a game that has no purpose with them - FF14, the MMO. Occasional boss battles will have you spam click a button on the middle of the screen (or hit any key on your keyboard over and over). If someone in your 8 party group fails some of these, it can cause a wipe and I think that is absolute dogshit design.
But if it is an action oriented game, it makes sense to me to kind of "play" the cutscenes - if it isn't overdone and adds to the experience, which rarely it does for me but definitely can.
I have recently been playing Unicorn Overlord, it is very similar and is really nostalgic to me with Ogre Battle 64, lots of similarities in a great way.
I don't really suggest UO as I see some of the localization issues and some of the dialogue choices, but outside of some of that stuff it's a great game.
I do definitely suggest Ogre Battle 64, I think it is a great, interesting take on a strategy game for console. The revolution/rebellion type storyline I really enjoy, and the RPG mechanics that tweak how the game plays out in small ways are fun too.
I also agree with acp_k2win with PS2 being peak, for me it was that entire generation as I worked enough during summers to get each console over the years and there are countless good games from PS2/GC/Xbox/Dreamcast (shamefully including my forgotten friend).
That is what I was thinking, I may actually see this in theatres with friends, kind of like what super hero movies were made for. I'll reserve some judgment until it is out and see if there is any hoodwinking going on, but I think so far it looks like a fun super hero movie with minimal yas girlboss/dei people in it, and actual fun messaging and jokes.
I'm not disagreeing with you at all man, it is just that they run their games, the way they want to run their games. Sometimes, with cheaters, griefers, ruiners, etc, Valve works on a fucking MASSIVE update for their games, at least in my experience with Dota.
We got a massive update to dota, along with a huge cleanup of cheaters, talking about hundreds of thousands of accounts of cheaters got deleted overnight one day. It was big news for dota, and they had spent a considerable amount of time with the biggest cheats to find what they do, how they work, and how they can keep them from accessing dota. It was irreversible VAC account bans for anyone using the tools iirc, and the community rejoiced.
It didn't delete cheating, but it made a big impact, and also got rid of many smurf/griefer accounts based off of other factors so it was a big win for the game. One big part of this was overwatch (not the game) which is a system Valve uses to have players judge whether someone was actually griefing/cheating/etc. It's quite a great system, and I think it came from CS:GO originally, so hopefully they can apply the same big update they did for dota, for CS eventually.
All that to really close out with, Valve didn't say they were doing this, they didn't have a PR person saying cheating/griefing/smurfing is a priority, but they were always working on it, and dropped it on us out of nowhere.
