I mean there was nothing viral about pillars of eternity 1 or 2, yet those were incredible games.
That said, the fact that stuff does go viral in BG3, and its only sexual stuff makes it a little weird, though the lack of other 'viral' things is not unexpected for the genre.
Not that it makes it any more right, but they're probably not wrong that most people are too stupid to govern themselves.
Most people are stupid, and there's no getting around that fact, regardless of which side of the narrative you're on.
Left or right most people don't read past the headlines anymore; nothing is ever verified, only accepted or rejected outright.
People aren't interested in knowledge anymore, only ideology.
Used to be one of my favorite series. I can't even stomach it now.
To be fair an appeal to authority is explicitly referring to someone who is NOT considered an expert in a relevant field. Other than that, yeah; there is no discussion anymore, just pointing to someone else to give your takes for you.
Its an absolutely disgusting state of public discourse we've been in for the past 5 or so years. People will believe anything that has a hyperlink attached to it, rather than actually critically engaging with information.
Its more interesting here than seeing the same regurgitated shit on other social media platforms.
I'm sick of the direction of entertainment and discourse due to woke-ism. Almost nothing that's gone with the grain in the past 10 years will be remembered 20 years later. All of it is garbage.
I hate how publicly, nobody acknowledges what led to this: children growing up on mobile devices and social media having all of their attention and desire to grow stolen by handheld drip-fed dopamine devices, and letting contact on social media take the place of real-world contact.
I feel like 30 years ago laws would have been passed on algorithms optimized for engagement to this degree because people actually cared about childhood development factors. Its obviously harmful long-term for societies, and especially their youth, because it pushes everyone into echo chambers, pushing stronger and stronger divides to the point where reasonable discussion is no longer possible, on top of the social and mental deficiencies it drives.
I'd rather people be upfront about their direct biases because at least that can be talked about in a way that's actually grounded in reality.
Just assuming people are racist, or any kind of '-ist', is infinitely worse because it destroys any possible meaningful conversation. It instantly poisons the well, and ruins any chance of positive societal trajectory through public discourse. All you do is get people, even the ones who weren't actually racist, to dig their heels in.
Hell, I'm left-leaning, and the number of chromosomally advantaged dipshits on the left that are utterly unaware of themselves doing this makes me prefer the right being in power because it will almost universally provide a better starting point than working with the left, especially since I don't want to work from the "hurrr communism actually good" position half of these retards have now.
Am I actually on the right now? I can't even tell anymore. Words don't have real meaning these days.
What I do know is that the left have done more damage to minority groups' interests with the amount of pushback they've created than modern racists ever could have. There should probably be a lesson in that.
I just started entering the industry because I got fed up with the direction of the game market. Finishing an internship now.
Are you just looking to do solo stuff, or are you looking for more people to go against the grain to really start something? Most of the people I find really just mean they're web3 shills obsessed with forcing NFTs into their games when they think of "going against the grain".
I have students in a 3rd year writing course that can barely write a paper. Pathetic APA knowledge, can't make solid points to support a thesis, garbage references, etc., etc.
American colleges, maybe other countries as well, are just made to push people through because its more profitable now. Its not about education, its about selling a subscription service you must have for X time before you get to the goal: a piece of paper that is barely relevant in the workforce now compared to even tangential work experience in the field.
