Mkay. I've seen stuff on reddit that says you owe me $1000.

There's hundreds of millions of users on reddit, and bots, that say all sorts of shit.

People love to see a headline that OP makes up and say "Oh I can imagine someone saying that," and then later they see another and they go "Oh I can imagine someone saying that too, because I imagine someone saying something similar before"

Had a nice walk this morning, thanks!

Don't worry, I searched, and found one user who brought up porn, but also didn't say it was "our fault."

I've got a half baked theory that on top of everything you said - where these people come from cultures that place zero value on women and rape is normalised, I think the role of (western produced) pornography has an unexplored relationship with the mindset of foreign rapists. A good solid chunk of pornography features white western women and good chunks of the male population across the globe mindlessly consume it for years of end. When you then add this to the toxic mix of a foreign rape culture incompatible with British sensibilities, you can see how it spurs on their attacks, in their mind women are "asking for it" or "it's the way they are" and other gross assertions.

There's no blame being placed on the makers of porn or western culture, only an observation of how something may be enforced.

Can't say I saw that happen, but I'm not just gonna take your word for it.

I think a lot of people thinking that "reddit is this or that" is largely coming from people who don't actually read the comments.

Case in point, you

Not really a net gain. If someone annoying replies to my comments I can just...ignore them. 99.9% of users on reddit are going to forget about me if I stop replying.

I don't have anyone who follows me around on reddit lol. Seems kind of a unique problem that you feel like you need to block hundreds from doing this.

It seems like an incredible waste of time. I don’t have a single Reddit user on my blocked list. What would be the point? If there were that many users I’d just stop going to the site.

Ah well good thing I’ll outlive you and I’ll die peacefully in my 80s surrounded by loving friends and family then :)

Lol you have no idea who I am. You just want to think you do.

I haven't bought movies at the store in years. I watch media to watch media.

I'm sorry that I do not care if someone tells a bad story. It seems really petty to cry about it. I can easily not listen to it and go listen to something else instead and move on with my day.

Ahh yes, the Jackson books... No comment

lol I misread this. I assumed you were talking about Percy Jackson.

A bad retelling isn't an attack on your culture dude lol. You're a fucking baby

Yeah. It was great. Ended after 4 seasons, as a good show should IMO.

They haven’t supplanted anything. My niece is currrently reading the Jackson books and has never heard of the films, because they aren’t as good as the books.

You hold too much weight in things that you don’t enjoy, when youcan, just like everyone else can and does, decide not to consume that media and enjoy what you currently have.

There’s good stuff to find. Barry is one of my favorite crime thrillers/dark comedy’s in years.

I mean, maybe, but how does this compare to the a hypothetical remake?

It feels more like the original works are the wedding cake, and bad remakes are a steaming pile of shit a week later. After all, any new movie is being made years later, so there’s no reason you have to put them next to each other.

The wedding cake existed, and was delicious. You even took some home and put it in the freezer and you can enjoy it later. A week later you see a steaming pile of shit. Now, realistically, what do you do?

A - Complain about the presence of the shit, and declare that the delicious wedding cake you had a week ago is now ruined because someone took a big steaming pile of shit on a plate and offered it to you to eat today

B - Say “gross,” and turn to go eat something else.

Me, personally, I’d choose B. A lot less stress in the soul over something unnecessary

Frankly, though, if anything, the wedding cake looks a lot more appetizing now.

How does it take away from it? Will you enjoy the current book less knowing that a bad retelling exists?

But its bot even made yet. Your entertainment, seemingly, is the current books and movies. Those aren’t ruined by other people making different versions. It’s easy to just ignore them and keep liking the ones that are available

There’s been some good stuff released recently. Some bad stuff too, but a lot of good stuff I’ve really liked.

The IP isn’t screwed up lol. The original source material will always exist. Nobody is rewriting the originals.

It doesn’t lol. The original still exists. I am watching the original trilogies at the end of the month with a bunch of old friends. Doing an all day marathon, making food. That day I won’t even think about any potential remake or how good or bad it might be. I’ll just comfortably enjoy the movies we have.
