I actually have a rule. If they inject diversity casting into anything, live action or otherwise (see black people in Frozen 2) I refuse to spend money on it. Witcher, Game of thrones prequel series lord of the ring Amazon series, how to train your dragon live action movie, etc. as soon as I saw a single black person I decided I would never watch them. Period. I don't hate watch because they still helps them. I don't in the hopes others do too, and those projects lose money and stop being made.
Where I'm from, puta is more like "bitch".
I get the appeal entirely and even if not reanimating a corpse it's message has universal appeal and moral implications.
Like OP said it's about playing God and toying with forces beyond not necessarily our intelligence, but beyond our ethical comprehension.
In the movie Frankenstein spends so much time trying to bring something to life he never once for a second thought about what he'd do once it was alive. The thing was like a baby and all it wanted was a parent. It was actually sad. I thought of my own kids and when they want to play and I'm dismissive because of work or stress or whatever. It was super relatable movie and I think the original story is too. What about nuclear bombs? Vaccines? Abortion? IVF? Cloning? All have moral implications that no one bothers to think about until after.
It was really good. Watched it the day it came out here. I enjoyed it from start to finish. The actors did a great job. The monster walked the line between looking monstrous and looking human, very well. It was a novel take on his appearance that I think was executed very well. The sets were amazing. The lighting was good. Not overly CGI reliant, and if it was, it was done so well that it wasn't noticeable. The story bounces back and forth a bit which broke any monotony. Great pacing. NOT woke at all. No hint of woke or the message. Not black people in it so that was an unexpected bonus. The characters are multi dimensional, not marvel villains. The two leads, Frankenstein and his monster, knocked it out of the park. Del Toro really did a good job with this movie.
I heard about this on .win this week for the first time ever. I never knew about this until this week.
Didn't all the good IP use to be firmly American?
I hate this new world.
Wake me up when it's the 90s again.
K-12 is so universally bad that ethnics try to enroll their kids in white neighborhood schools. No. As fucked as schools are they are more fucked by and because of non whites. Excluding East Asians.
That up is real just inflation.
Youre doing great. Those are good numbers for 30. I'll pray for everyone here but I'll pray for your wife's health too.
100%. I just got off the phone with my dad and we had a cordial joust. I mentioned someone stupid as shit he did in the 90s and threw cases later he still can't concede "okay yeah maybe I acted like a fucking ass that day". Like dude, it's fine, it's been a long time, just own it. Boomers seem to be uniquely incapable of admitting fault or even mediocrity.
Side bar, even adjusted for inflation I probably make like 3x what my dad did at my age. Heck, I make more than he does now. He couldn't afford his own home if he bought it today, but even with my much bigger income I couldn't afford his home now. That's how much home prices have inflated compared to wages. Boomers either have no clue or simply cannot admit that economically they win the fucking lottery.
"Hey son, you have it much harder than I did. That sucks. Maybe your mom and I can help." -unfathomable words for a boomer
I think a decent number of people made a series of bad choices that make life hard. I've had quite a few friends make some decisions that I would consider super reckless and they were able to rebound fairly quickly. DUIs, major accidents, that kind of thing.
The system seems to forgive A fuck up, but if you're white that's basically it. You get one maybe two and then it's hard life.
The people who are not doing well In My life made a series of shitty decisions, often continuous ones like gambling, blowing cash on dumb shit, Vegas, etc for a decade or longer. So I think failure is often like success, it's not ONE big thing that makes or breaks you, it's many little things that culminate over time.
My impression was Poland is pretty based. Is it Poland that's got socialistic policies, or more the EU and the impact it has on its member states?
I love my shit box.
Did you ever want kids?
Same.. everything is packed. Even during the day. I work for myself so I. Used to taking off to go to the gym or hike before the shutdown shit and it became common. Either everyone is unemployed or everyone is working from home. And based on what I see, they sure as shit aren't working or home. I'm 90% convinced most people took out seconds on their home and are living off debt.
What are you good at? What trades, skills, can you do?
I appreciate you bringing this up and your willingness to share.
Im late thirties, married, have more that two kids. I make good money but I also live in a big city in California that is very expensive. The cost for everything is still insanely high where I am. Gas came down a little. But groceries are absurd. A typical costco visit pre COVID was $300-400. The same visit is easily $600 now. No joke, I probably average 1K on food per month and that is NO junk food, no chips, no snacks, no misc impulse buys, just the essentials.
I actually reached out to a buddy of mine with the same number of kids to see if I'm doing something wrong, if there are way cheaper options than what I'm doing. Doesn't seem to be a better alternative.
Childcare isn't a cost because my wife stays home. But the activities cost a fortune. Soccer, etc.
My state taxes the shit out of me so my actual take home after taxes and withholding make me want to vomit.
My wife drives a five year old car. I drove a 13 year old car. Both paid off.
I feel like if I take my foot off the gas work wise, I'll drown. So I'm always working my ass off, barely ever taking time off. Its hard to gauge if all my neighbors simply make way more money than me or if they're buried in debt, because so many keep doing major remodels, buying new cars every few years etc. those Sprinter van things are everywhere and those cost $150k each.
Trump is surrounded by people who insulate him from his actual base. And he loves praise way too much.
Ugh. I want to downvote this just because I hate this.
Yeah I mean they could use courics (South Park) and the math would be the same.
"Goyz, if we didn't sin, Jesus would have to die for our sin. You see, it was worth it! Why, no, I don't believe in Christ, I'm a Jew, why do you ask?" /Sarcasm
Jesus Christ is King and the one true God.
I'm not saying we should. But "why should we do ____" isn't a proposal. It's an inquiry. I think that's the hold up for me, is I they to be direct and you speak more.... Rhetorically. Let's put it that way.
Okay so you consider banks non private entities. I consider banks private because they are non government. But your line of reasoning is that they are ultimately bailed out by the tax payer and so that makes them not private regardless of their ownership. Fair enough.
Nonetheless, regardless of what they are what incentive would they have to even give out loans under your system of no interest?
And would genuinely private organizations be allowed to charge interest in your ideal set up? For example could I loan someone $100,000 and charge interest?
These questions of mine don't bely a point. I'm against the bank bailouts, the auto industry bailouts, I'm against the vaccine liability immunity that was given. I'm no fan of lots of things. That said, changed require intense scrutiny as well.
Thanks for the nuance. I knew there was a split but didn't know specifics. But same point over all, there are expenses far after/in excess of the production is completed.
I think it's because animation actually is a great medium for conveying things that would be hard to put in love action. Like memes, they condense things.
The left has this war in anime, and I think they might be indirectly related. Anime is pretty based.
