Only notable caveat that Ender's Game and the rest of the series are wildly different in tone/material.

I think you underestimate this group's collective desire for culture, mate. Noted and will read.

I'm pretty conflicted. On the one hand, we need normies to get red-pilled:

It sacrifices the equality, safety, and privacy of women, while privileging men who identify as women: If this bill becomes law, they’d have a civil right to spend the night in a battered women’s shelter, disrobe in a women’s locker room, and compete on a women’s sports team—even children at K-12 public schools.

This would go a long way. However, this would simultaneously give them free will to take even MORE liberties than they do now with children, fucking them up for life due to their own selfish principals and not the children's well being.

As a result I'm against this due to the collateral damage. Any victories to be had will be pyrrhic in nature from this.

I don't feel that bad for them. More and more states have been pushing for free tuition, and that enables these cunts to spread their poison rent free. Fuck that.

College debt is a fucked up system never mind the indoctrination, but so is the idea of free college / universities not having teeth in their students' actual job market success.

Doesn't seem to be covered, but it's fairly applicable right now considering China's at war with India and they've used relations with Pakistan to broker presence, leveraging their lands and 1 of the deepest rivers in the world to dispatch troops.

This is in conjunction with the SE sea agreement that came out of seemingly nowhere but was being worked upon the better part of half a decade...

Everyone knows about the obvious IP theft and other underhanded means they've executed to get their current might, but it's still ongoing, extending into a decidedly more physical way. Just doesn't get attention. Even their dealings with Africa or the ME countries remains quiet.

That's an extremely dark read but very pertinent to most everyone here, please share findings in a dedicated topic for the main points.

What'd you think of the WoT ending? I read through Book 11, Knife of Dreams, do you think it's worth finishing it off?

By now I've forgotten everything but I remember very small bits of it, wouldn't re-read any of the volumes due to the time sink.

My eyesight has worsened, but I'm usually a shut in anyway, so it's probably related to weird sleep patterns and odd, at times longwork hours. I don't get enough regular sleep.

While I think the primary reason has already been covered, if we think it from their perspective of "equality, equity and inclusion", we know equality doesn't matter and inclusion isn't really a problem given the fairly open platform.

This leaves equity, and on average men perform better on Twitch than women long-term. Women attract initial viewers easier, but said audience is quicker to leave compared to those of male streamers, probably because the men have to work harder to actually entertain their audience.

What does this mean? Encouraged simping aka more business, probably. But worth contextualizing in the language of progressive tech, which is that women are oppressed and need help.

Sevens had Volume 10 released last winter, forgot about that. Guess that's what I'll be reading next / eventually.

Books - Been planning to read Christopher Hitchens' book on Bill Clinton. I've kept punting it for many months, but I'll get around to it sooner or later. I enjoyed his other titles, especially The Trial of Henry Kissinger.

Manga - Haven't touched it in weeks, last read Destiny Lovers through Volume 4, and was in some later volume of Tokyo Ghoul re.

LNs/WNs - Numerous titles that I started years ago but have touched extremely few within several months.

Titles that I actively read as released:

  • Dungeon Defense, an amazing isekai LN (ignore the WN) with an extremely talented author and an anti-hero. The writing quality is admirable. Last translation was almost 4 years ago...
  • Overlord - Read it if you've only seen the anime or manga.
  • Atelier Tanaka - Features a soy-faced, herbivore, virgin, over-powered protagonist that has over-the-top mental musings about sex. It's a hard series to read unless you know up-front that the whole premise is about his ludicrous thoughts. I imagine it's a tough sell for most.
  • Bishoujo wo Jouzu ni Nikubenki ni Suru Houhou - aka "How to Skilfully Make a Beautiful Girl into a Meat Toilet", but has a plot twist which is the main selling point...definitely not to be taken at face value. I don't even know where to begin on this. Lots of sex. Recently resumed after a 3-year pause in translations.
  • Chikyuu Tenseisha no Koroshikata - Isekai where the protagonist is on the side of the Orc Queen, who is furious about the human faction's isekai heroes. Plot: main character must netori the hero's harem. Series was discontinued on Syosetu, so it'll forever stay at 75 chapters. -_-

Websites - Nothing of note regarding polictics, economics and the like. Rather dark on this front, sadly, for gaming...especially censorship stuff.

People like to say anime fans are gonna hold the line against this bullshit

The only way to 'hold the line' is to gatekeep. Anime, manga, and games are too big already; there's no helping it, there are enough normies involved.

At least anime has fan subs to counter "localizers", and since anime is too expensive to mass produce, even the nicher titles tend to be covered.

The same doesn't apply to manga due to the bulk of material, barring more popular titles due to demand for consumption between release of source material and when the Western publication can catch up. If this delay ever narrows, we're super fucked.

Novels? Games? Almost hopeless. The reward-to-effort ratio is far too small, so if companies like Yen Press and MangaGamer engage in "happy localization", nothing's going to change except for a few fan-obsessed cases.

Keeping Western companies in check, to me, is a lost cause. The worry is when Japanese companies are going to be subverted - the process is already under way and growing momentum every year - and what those implications are.

Once a week? I try to take it once a day, when I remember to. I usually don't remember though, so it's maybe 3-4x a week max but usually more gappy.

Originally was using 200-400 IU dosages. That barely helps, but it's not enough if you don't (or can't due to window direction, dreary weather city, or genetics) get enough sun.

I read about it elsewhere, but I don't think we explicitly acknowledged Biden's comments on Uyghur Muslims on this forum unless I missed a thread - https://www.rebelnews.com/biden_suggests_uyghur_genocide_is_due_to_china_different_norms

The context is pretty relevant, in case anyone missed it:

Speaking at a CNN town hall event on Tuesday evening, President Joe Biden dismissed the pressing issue of China’s genocide of the Uyghur people, referring to the mass incarceration of members of the ethnic minority group as the result of “different norms.”

Article from NicheGamer includes a statement from Seven Seas Entertainment, who localize manga and novels.

They have several imprints for manga, including Ghost Ship for some racier titles - https://gomanga.com/

Fans of Mushoku Tensei and Classroom of the Elite noticed that 'localization' had butchered various texts, and the publisher was forced to respond to it.

Of course, these editorial travesties may not be the only ones. You can judge whether their response is adequate; they will be issuing new versions of both titles, at least.

Merriam-Webster hasn't gotten the memo. Neither, apparently, has the universality diversity police, though they have 'aromantic' - https://archive.vn/f6SFY

The only time I've seen legitimate canonical usage of "goddess" is in eroges where people are fucking each other in the name of fertility, mother nature, and definitely not raw hedonism.

Google's a good example, because I'm actually in the tech industry. Let's just say that I work for an extremely large woke company that is not Alphabet.

I don't have liberal views, at least how liberalism is defined these day, and I don't define myself by labels in the 1st place. I'd prefer a small company but at the time I got hired, I didn't have any offers and couldn't wait. I am working on an exit plan, though I don't know about timelines.

I have no issue with anyone taking Google money as long as they aren't actively engaged in altering search results, etc. If you remove Fortune 500 (they're all woke), opportunities aren't great; if you remove startups (woke), again, it's only hurting yourself in the end.

Conclusion: take the money, keep your mouth shut, and don't engage in corporate activism.

Disney is woke? How many aren't in Hollywood, and what does it mean for an actor or actress? Legit question. I don't know Gina, so I won't say she's a great person, but I don't think it's fair to say that she's "playing both sides" on just the basis of her employer being Disney. I do hate Pedowood entirely though, so if you want to hate her based on that, I see no problem.

Agreed, but at the same time, having presence on Facebook gets more reach. He needed to do both: be on Facebook and provide alternative options for those willing to see the light.
