Well the Leopold statement vs Hitler is a legitimate statement of fact. Leopold was one hell of a bastard.
Stalin killed 20 million. Mao killed 60 million. Why is Hitler the worst villain in history? Why is Nazi the go-to evil label that literally no one tries to emulate, but communism is literally being pushed as moral?
In part, though that is not the sole reason by any means, elite institutions are on roughly the same side as Stalin, the side that gives them more power over the people. You should read what they were writing about Stalin at the time, and even during the purges. It was not just Walter Duranty. Countless other 'intellectuals' worshiped Stalin.
It's insane that he would post something denying the holocaust in 2020. Even I get baffled by those types.

I don't know the situation currently or in other states, but we were only required to learn American history. As far as I know, the US never got involved in the Congo, so it's beyond the scope of the class.
The OP had a post showing a discussion between Leopold and Hitler. One can argue that Leopold was a bastard at the least.
Disagree, Leopold just wanted to make a profit at the great expense of the people of the Congo, which I think is quite a bit different than if he wanted consciously to wipe them from the face of the earth.
If what Leopold had done was the 1400's I'd agree with you, it was the 1890's, he was European and he used slaves. You might as well be writing that hey the targeted killing of Jay Bishop was justified because they are Communists and they just want their own nation. They know full well what they did was wrong but did it anyway for their own benefit.
Not saying that it's justified, only that there's a difference between cruelty for profit and for the sake of extermination.
