If you were to pinpoint a time when would you say woke nonsense/sjw garbage creeped into gaming? I remember I used to love gaming magazines until they couldn’t shut up about diversity or women in gaming or articles saying how evil gamers were. My personal favorite are female gamers who talk about verbal abuse they get when they play online. At first I was sympathetic until I realized that verbal abuse is pretty common online.
Women can be great developers or programmers but hiring a woman for gorge sake of it is dumb. Same with men. And people get furious if you say you just want to play a game.
Main games I play now are Skyrim, Fable Deluxe, and the Sims. I’m really excited about Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield but I hope Bethesda doesn’t go crazy. Also hope next Fable game is good. Sorry for rant.
Developed by Playground Games, who have been sucking BLM cock (Donated all sales on June 19th to BLM) and banning people on Forza for "offensive liveries" like Confederate flags or rising suns.
Prepare for disappointment.
Noooooooo!!!!
I don't know if it's the same team at Playground, so maybe it'll be okay, but I thought I better put in that insight from playing their other game.
Everyone is sucking BLM cock. Yacht Club Games, for example. I used to deeply respect them. They won't be seeing a single cent from me ever again, though. Not since they did a pro-BLM campaign and gave my money to grifters, felons and people who want me dead.
They sucked it after Saint Floyd was revealed to be trash. That's the difference.
There's a certain line where supporting it is worse than before, but I'm not sure where it should be drawn.
Yeah, around 2009 is when I noticed the corporate shift from the curse of accessibility to the curse of diversity.
I first noticed it back in 2012 during the "Hamburger Hepler" thing with Bioware.

I'm sure there was stuff that happened before that. That was just the first thing that got my attention.
There was a bit of the diversity stuff sneaking in for a while, but it got really bad in 2014+. A bunch of literally who’s started speaking up about more then, and “the woke” has infected a bunch of companies since then. It’s part of what has gotten me interested in Game Development, so I can try to get something out there that is not completely filled with politics.
2014
2015, 2014 was when indies fell, but they made garbage anyway.
2020 was the first time we really saw how hard they fell, with nearly everyone supporting BLM.
I don't know an exact time, but I recall something like 10 years ago G4 or the likes did a skit on CoD with females, and the host freaked out because "killing women is bad". I remember blowing chicks up in UT99, Quake 3 and U2K4 to name a few, and found it strange how a guy on a gaming network is surprised by seeing women in games.
I also recall back when Oblivion came out Bethesda went full PC on their forums and you weren't allowed to make any jokes that were against any "holy" group.
Yeah, RE5's "racism" from 2007 is probably the earliest I remember that's close enough to today's wokescolds. Before that it was mostly focused on violence and some sex, but usually with a "think of the children" angle not a broad social justice one.
Though I'm sure there were probably some feminists screeching about Tomb Raider back in the 90s, I just never saw it.

What happened there?
I remember sympathising with SJW-adjacent talking points as late as 2012. The original trailers for TLOU1 didn't impress me... they just seemed to be revelling in violence for impact's sake. So at that time I remember shitting on TLOU just because I felt like western gaming could be something... more, idk.
In 2013-ish I remember shitting on EA because of their development of games featuring military action, specifically their chosen marketing where they promoted the games as if they were an authentic slice of military experience. It seemed phoney and cynical as fuck.
I recall that it was really valid to say whatever you wanted until... until the press circled their wagons over gamergate. At that point, basically everything became ideological warfare. It's gamergate, bro. Probably 2014.
"Resident Evil 5 is racist" by N'Gai Croal. And at that point, everyone laughed at it.
Also, I remember there being a growing trend in the PS3 era of complaining about "brown haired white guys" being the main protagonists in games.
This is from 2010.

I first noticed it in 2014 - DF2014 to be exact.
Mind you, I can't remember the last time I played a AAA game within 5 years of it coming out (generally I play indie or older games), so I was insulated from much of it.
The shitstorm was always brewing in the background but the "positive" culture of the 90s kept it at bay.
I would say 2010 was the turning point but maybe that was just when I first noticed what was going on. By that point Twitter had around 5 years to metastasize into the serious cultural rot that it continues to be.
2010 was also when Dickwolves happened which really showed the reach and power of the mob. Anita weaseled her way into the spotlight a few years later but she was just opportunistically taking advantage of what was already a trend.
That said there were some good games released after that, possibly because their development cycle started before everything went bad.
Shadow of Mordor is one I thoroughly enjoyed, along with Mad Max which was a pretty similar game.
Doom 2016 and supposedly Eternal (haven't played) were good. Prey 2017 was basically System Shock 3 and other than a sidequest that talked about a dyke relationship there wasn't any wokeness.
Imo the last GREAT game ever made was S.T.A.L.K.E.R (1). And with the way things are going I don't see it being topped anytime soon.
I posted an article from 2010 earlier. Check it out.
Thanks! Will do.
