Second, he didn't "run off to Russia". He was travelling through Russia on a stopover on his way to Ecuador, from Hong Kong, when his passport was revoked.
I think it is less about feminists and more about the white female boomer demographic in general. My mom got excited about this and sent me an article about it, and she doesn't really consider herself a feminist. She just grew up in the era when they were taught that Susan B Anthony was an American hero for women.
I see it as being far more complex than that. He is choosing a historical figure (and Dems want to erase history) and essentially forcing them to pick a side against him in the frame of who Susan B Anthony was.
