At least they admit that it's a serious privacy concern moving into the future and ask if its ethical and when it would stop, but we all know that once it's set up they won't let go of that kind of power.
It's been fascinating to see how little entire sports care about their core fans. They're so sure of their fans devotion that they openly castigate them in order to try to bring in broader demographics. But, they'll learn just like every other male dominated hobby, that you can't hope to bring in those other demographics by pandering to them and ignoring the calls of your core. You'll quickly lose both; but at least you won't be an -ist or a -phobe -- just broke.

Whenever a team moves to a different town they make it pretty clear just how much they value the fans, and it's not much. And the fans will hem and haw but still watch the games and buy the new merch.
