Man, i waited to play this game on PC. After some hours of it left a bad taste in my mouth. -All that diversity in the tribe, people would have mixed by now. -Apart from her father figure all the man in first quests are weak, and their daughter, wife is a the dominant. Will this get better or worse?

Watched my husband play it, the story is cool until 2/3rds in and you just keep saying "He's clearly evil, why did you allow him to live with you?!". My husband also got super tired of the over filled points of interest style map. It got very repetitive and boring, something about the combat just couldn't carry him to care enough about finishing everything. He said, "I'm so tired of this, I'll just finish the story and be done with it".
We heard the DLCs were better, but he just couldn't bring himself to pick it back up.
The DLC's gameplay was fun, but the story and writing were much, much worse.
Also, Ashly Burch's voice on the MC got extremely grating for me.
I haven't but after hearing about it so much, my understanding is "game good, story/characters forgettable to awful."
Which can work, but not for a full price game.
I tried, but the premise was weird and I didn't enjoy the gameplay. The story just screamed "Men Bad."
is a great game, but not on PC it would seem, why do they always F up the ports? they could make a lot of money on a good title if they do a good job, even take the opportunity to improve features. Oh well, guess the Fans on PC will have to step up and patch it.
One thing I enjoyed politically, was the downsides they showed of a matriarchy, how women's emotional power games and offense taking could lead to the harshest punishments, something I suspect the SJW filters couldn't recognize, but everyone else can.
This is actually the second game to be ported with the Decima Engine. Death Stranding was the first, not sure if the same company ported that too.
It's worth noting that Death Stranding is a fantastic port. But then again Kojima is old-school and doesn't let busted versions of his games out the door.
So it may not be cheap callousness towards the PC market, but inexperience, thank you for the extra context.
Great game, excellent story, graphics, gameplay. If you let little things that some might consider 'progressive' or 'diverse' bother you too much, just give up though as its hard to know what else might not be to your taste.
I hate having politics, especially anything SJWish shoe-horned into games but this is a post-apocalypse setting where they're trying to show a different type of culture and tribal system, don't expect it to make perfect sense. In many ways its the opposite of what SJWs would like as its a fairly colour-blind society, i.e. race doesn't have very much to do with people's identities (and the lead is a pale skinned red-head, one of SJWs key targets for erasure). Imagine if instead the game had originally been shown having a red haired heroine but internal pressure saw them replace her with a black character, that character had a prominent same-sex love story, and her black tribe was being persecuted by a tribe of white people tattooed with skulls and eagles - because if SJWs were designing it you know that's what you would have gotten (mind you, could still happen with the sequel).
If you look for things that 'might' be SJW-tinged you'll find them, the same way SJWs always find things that 'might' be racist, or 'might' be offensive. My advice is give game developers and tv show makers the benefit of the doubt when there's a little bit of progressive content and remember there's still a big difference between someone having left-wing views and still being a sane, decent person and them going full SJW. If its actually SJW-driven it will become so heavy-handed so quickly that you won't be thinking "Is this hyper-left trash?" the answer will be self-evident.
If Horizon doesn't suit you, try Far Cry 5. I found the revelation that the game is actually full of right-wing good guys a pleasant surprise.
I honestly didn't think it was great at all; it was under hyped at first, then over hyped in the months after its release. It was a 7 out of ten game for me at a push. I honestly don't see where the greatness is or was.
The games story is not excellent, barely digestible. I did not mind the diversity of the tribes but OP does have a point on why are they not mixed already? The game has some SJW or rather feminist influences on top of that. It is hard not to get bothered by them once you start to notice.
Well, maybe GorillaGames wanted to send the message that people of different skin-color will never really get along and we should stop trying ...
Ah yes, the classic sane person that will let SJW's slide with anything, while not letting anything a right winger does go. There's a reason things have gotten worse, and that would be the old saying of "Giving them an inch".
I like the gameplay so far, looks like 1st Tomb Raider which is one of the modern games i finished before getting bored of it. :)
I played Far Cry 5 and something about the combat was off for me. Weapons felt weird.
It’s an okay game. It suffers a bit from PlayStation exclusive disorder, where it can be repetitive and got more hype than it deserves, but it is a fun game. The story is very good, but does suffer from a small amount of “woke”, but like some others have said it might just be that we are at a point where it is easy to see such things. Some of the characters stories are “progressive,” but it’s done more in a subtle, not extremely heavy handed way. Aloy’s character has some problems that are spoiler related so I won’t go into them, but they were more main character related than gender related. There is a big emphasis on gender in the narrative, but again it is a bit more subtle than most other modern content. The DLC is pretty much more of the main game so unless you either really enjoy the gameplay, or got it with the purchase, I don’t personally recommend it. Overall it is a pretty good game that has some progressive themes, but does a good job at exploring them without being heavy into modern politics. It’s one of those games that in my opinion does a pretty good job at what it is trying to do, but again suffers from some repetitiveness. I enjoyed it enough to get the Platinum trophy.
It starts off good storywise, but it gets worse as it tries to prop up the main character as the savior who is the only one who can do things. Then the "man destroyed the world, but a single woman can save it" trope starts getting worse. The SJW factor is fairly well hidden overall, so it can pass an enjoyable game overall.
There is a lot of man bad and once you start noticing it you start to hate it. The game is ok and if the times would have been different you would have liked it. But as it stands I find it hard to get in to a game once I start seeing the progressive angle. I become critical of every single thing that does not make sense and I simply can not get immersed in it. The gameplay is not that great either but for what is worth I did not like the gameplay from Withcer 3 either.
I've set sail for a copy, if I like it I'll wait for a sale
Does this game offer dual voice option? Checked the gameplay from youtube, there's a significant amount of voice acting. I don't think I want to hear Ashley Burch's voice acting. Not to mention, with Australian pricing, I have to spent $30 or more to play another cookie cutter third action adventure game.
Just checked the pricing, I have to spend $75 for that damn game. No way I'm buying that.
I was willing to overlook some of the sillier matriarchal/diversity stuff - but listening to Ashley Burch's annoying voice nagging everyone she came in contact with got REALLY old after awhile. The main character struck me as a "modern woman" who had been dropped into the game world and thinks she's superior to it, instead of a character who behaves as if they evolved in the game world. If that makes sense. The gameplay can still be fun though if you like that type of game.
Oh, and then there was whatever the fuck this is supposed to be
imagine wanting to play sony woke open world collectathon of the month #27
I played it for about 5/6 hours but I got really bored and quit.
The diversity actually has an in-lore explanation. Are there spoiler tags for .win?
I found it fun for the most part and I just recently finished it. I get tired of the open world thing in any game but for the most part I think fun-wise it does open world better than average and the combat can be a lot more interesting than most. Although I'd like if some of the machines would settle the F down and let me be even more strategic. I didn't mind the story but I almost never fully enjoy the story in open world games because it's spread out too much.
Regarding SJW/PC stuff, I did notice some woman good/man bad but it's not the worst offender by any means. At the very least I'd say there were some positive male characters in the game as well and some bad woman characters. At least to the point that it wasn't every man was a bumbling buffoon and every woman was the pinnacle of perfection. In the grand scheme of things you are of course playing the character of the woman who saves the world. That's about the only thing I took out of it for the SJWs though. I don't recall any gayness, trannies, etc. and you don't get the choice to bang a chick later (or bang anyone for that matter). In comparison--I defended Outer Worlds recently but reflecting back I think I was wrong on it and I just didn't notice or ignored it. Outer Worlds was a commies and SJWs paradise compared to Horizon.
If you like big open world games I'd suggest keeping at it, as it's at least fun and slightly more unique in it's combat in a group of games that tend to be all the same thing. I do think it's overrated, but I've really felt that way about a lot of the things I played on PS4. It's a very homogeneous library.
Why the fuck did you play this game? The main bitch is ugly as hell
